Design Interface Manager
Role Purpose
- Strategic leadership and provision of key technical expertise to ensure the highest quality of technical delivery
- Develops Programme & Project engineering standards, policies, procedures and best practices
- Leading all technical design efforts ensuring quality designs are in line with the project scope, corporate standards, authority regulations, budget and Project goals
- Accountable for effective and timely delivery of the design elements and be responsible for reporting on progress to line manager
- Provide advice to Project teams and assist in solving complex issues
- Review and comment on Value Engineering proposals
- Development of engineering work packages in coordination with key Stakeholders
- Manage the design Interface between assets to establish clear roles and responsibilities of consultants and ensure that all NEOM departments design requests on the assets are addressed affectively.
Key Accountibilities
- Manage the team of design consultants, building and infrastructure contractors through the various phases of a project lifecycle.
- Ensuring, through various project teams and planning support, that project programming and reporting is accurate and timely
- Chair technical progress meetings and coordination with all stakeholders
- Assists in preparation and/or review of Tender Documentation Packages comprising of Instructions to Bidders, Contract Form, General Terms Conditions, Bid Forms, etc.
- Monitor the construction progress as well as quality and execution as per approved technical documentation and project execution plan
- Ensure works are progressed in compliance with Design Guidelines, Brand Standards, Best Practices and any applicable International Standards
- Lead in technical reviews of change management events in coordination with contract / commercial and cost control teams
- Provide ongoing liaison with Client / Developer and key Consultants for coordination and guidance in the interpretation and clarification of operational requirements and standards
- Overseeing and delivering start up workshops for the delivery teams, covering technical subject
- Development of Responsibility Matrix that clearly establishes roles and responsibilities
- Identify critical interfaces, and monitor ongoing work progress while mitigating risks
- Manage and coordinate the all required mock ups with operators and consultants during the design process to present to the Founding Boards as per the agreed project schedule.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Minimum 15 years of experience in the design and construction industry, specializing in the programme and project management of large mixed-use developments and large-scale hospitality, commercial and high-end residential projects in the GCC region
- Strong technical skills and experience in construction documentation
- Strong leadership skills and experience in managing / coordinating multiple teams across all project phases
- Experience in streamlining technical / design-related processes
- Experience in the identification and management of risks and recording in a project Risk Register
- Experience in developing bid and tender strategies, preparing tender documentation, evaluation and contract negotiation
- Awareness of Quality and Environmental Systems and the ability to work to the expected requirements of these systems.
- Working knowledge in Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems
- Must have a strong Architectural and Engineering background
