ADNOC Distribution markets, sells, and distributes transportation fuel to both retail and commercial customers. We also run non-fuel services at our service stations.
Job Purpose
Responsible for development implementation of category wise and overall merchandising strategy of Oasis C Stores packaged consumer goods assortment in line with overall ADNOC Distribution objectives. Manages team of category managers who are accountable for all aspects of profit and loss management and category financial results, as well as proactive/reactive management to ensure forecasts, sales, markdowns, market share growth, gross profit and inventory targets/budgets and pricing are met or exceeded
Job Specific Accountabilities
Category Planning and Management
– Ensure that the category strategy of all consumer packaged categories is aligned with the overall brand strategy and meets the customer needs. Also lead the translation of vision & strategy for each of the categories into clearly articulated category fundamentals and metrics.
– Oversee and approve development of annual operating plan for various categories including products, pricing, packaging, and distribution.
– Lead the team to plan and implement effective category strategies for all categories sold in Oasis CStores in terms of managing the supply base, buying, ranging, margin mix, promotional framework, merchandising planning, stock management etc.
– Manage the team to category managers to achieve category GP targets, overall conversion and basket size and consumer experience targets.
– Builds excellent relationships with the Retail sales and C Store team specifically, to ensure that category plans are effectively communicated to and executed in store and our service differentiation is maintained and improved.
Supplier Negotiation and Contracts
– Oversee and lead the negotiation and manage key strategic supplier contracts and relationships. Guide team in achieving significant negotiated savings and year over year cost reductions while maintaining/improving product quality and supplier service levels.
– Review, approve, monitor and report compliance to category agreements and strategies for all packaged consumer product categories sold at Oasis C-Stores of ADNOC Distribution.
– Leads identification of and development of key vendor partnerships across various categories that are competitive enabling and manages those relationships to positive outcomes.
– Attend trade shows and buying trips in order to identify new vendors, enhance innovation and product categories that will influence item assortment, new item creation, pricing, while aligning to corporate strategy.
Inventory Management
– Oversee effectively planning and forecasting of consumer demand to maximize the profitability of the inventory flow each category ensuring the right stock levels kept at all times.
– Develop and/or recommend product flow plans to maximize availability at the lowest possible inventory levels.
Market Intelligence
– Leads development and implementation of new planning tools, methods, technical analysis, standards and procurement opportunities that are aligned with ADNOC Distribution strategic plans and cost reduction initiatives.
– Leads customer research to define customer targets and marketing mix. Applies customer research to make decisions regarding direction of various category of products sold in C Stores. Leverages understanding of competitive marketplace to project potential threats etc.
Data Analysis and Management
– Reviews on monthly basis, sales and profitability for each category decide for the required changes in category, item, quality, price, source or number of SKUs which can be displayed within the space allocated to each of the categories.
– Direct the financial planning, forecasting and reporting processes for the defined category and geography including the Annual Plan, Monthly updates, and reporting on actual results.
– Understands, applies and directs category analytics leading to key insights and business recommendations on merchandising, assortment, pricing and promotion.
– Leverages insights resources and synthesizes information from multiple data sources to maximize the impact of category leadership with customers.
