Job Description

Purpose of the Role: 

Database Administrator liaise with IT project managers, programmers, and other technical staff to design and develop a database system. Also responsible for keeping the company’s database in a perfect working condition by considering the back-end data structure as well as the front-end accessibility to the end-users. Database Administrator ultimate goal is to ensure a seamless flow of data/information throughout the company. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Designing and implementing databases according to the needs of end users 

  • Enabling data distribution in a suitable format, to the right users in a timely manner 

  • Determining, documenting, and enforcing database policies, standards, and procedures 

  • Building database systems of high quality and availability in accordance with the needs of end users 

  • Monitoring database performance, implementing changes and applying new versions and patches when required, including incident and problem management 

  • Performing regular evaluations and tests for the purpose of ensuring data security, integrity, and privacy 

  • Monitoring usage, transaction volumes, response times, concurrency levels, etc. 

  • Minimizing database downtime and managing parameters for the purpose of providing fast query responses 

  • Identifying reporting, and managing database security issues, audit trails, and forensics 

  • Implement security plans to maintain database integrity and protect against cyber-attacks 

  • Design database backup, archiving, and storage strategy. Use high-speed data backup and transaction recovery techniques 

  • Act as in-charge to upgrade database software files to shield the software from security flaws 

  • Providing reactive and proactive data management training/support to users 

 

Qualifications and Experience Levels: 

 

  • Minimum of 5+ experience in related field 

  • Bachelor of computer science field and professional database administration qualification
