Purpose

This position is for an office-based CWI Well Engineer, to plan, design, manage, assure and execute completion, well intervention and hydraulic fracturing operations safely and efficiently.  This will require frequent field visits for engineering and oversight of fracture stimulation and well operations.

Accountabilities

  • Responsible for design, planning, execution, and documentation of well work activities, including Horizontal wells and Multi Well Pads. 

  • Work closely with asset team and senior CWI engineers to make well work decisions/recommendations including selection and optimization of services, materials, fluid systems, operational techniques, operational efficiencies, cost tracking, and management of project risks. 

  • Ability to deliver fracture stimulation management in the field during well operations

  • Ability to execute, design and optimize fracture stimulation.

  • Integrate HSSE in the design, programming, and execution of well work on completion and well intervention operations.  Actively promote HSSE and Sustainable Development (SD) in all activities and ensure compliance with business principles.

  • Ensure Wells Process Safety principles are implemented, identifying and ensuring compliance to Frontline Barrier Management.

  • Ensure appropriate technical oversight to the design, procedures and the support of execution and that that the Shell Wells Manuals are implemented in all approved designs.

  • Support and foster relationships with asset teams including subsurface, production, facilities, and construction.

  • Develop and maintain well activity risk register, and the required controls / mitigations are documented for implementation.

  • Assist in leading the technical and HSSE management of relevant service provider contracts and support the contracting and procurement strategy.  Collaborate with contractors regarding performance, upcoming work, deviations as needed.

  • Cost and Time Tracking – Champion and lead tracking well costs and job timing during execution, including differentiating trouble costs/time from expected costs/time.

  • Assist with HSSE management with the contractors and the evaluation of service quality.  Lead discussions with contractors regarding performance, future plans, and variances needed.

  • Responsible for managing the well work schedule for the field, coordination of material, equipment, and serving as a primary interface between engineering and operations. 

  • Champion operational performance improvement initiatives throughout the well delivery process.  Support the implementation of new technologies and best practices as part of the performance improvement process. 

Dimensions

  • Anticipated 1 frac unit and associated services completing +/- 10 Exploration, Appraisal and Development Wells per year

  • WRFM (Wells Reservoir and Facilities Management) activity for producing assets and new well inventory.

  • 5/2 office-based schedule with regular field visits especially during well stimulation

What we need from You

  • Open to Omani Nationals only

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in completions and well interventions

  • A degree level (Business/Engineering) or Diploma required

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, influencing & stakeholder management skills

  • Resilient, motivated & passionate to drive positive change in constructive manner

  • Continuous improvement and simplification mindset, and knowledge of agile ways of working

  • Proven HSSE and Well Process Safety Leadership and associated performance improvement

  • Proven track record of execution excellence, delivering results and continuous improvement in well operations including experience in: –

    • HPHT, Hard Rock, Tight Gas, Horizontal well design and operations

    • Multi well pad batch and concurrent CWI and hydraulic fracturing operations

  • CWI Well Engineering skills including but not limited to: –

    • Completion design, planning and execution

    • Intervention design, planning and execution

    • Completion/Intervention fluid design, planning and execution

    • Hydraulic fracturing design, planning and execution

    • Well testing design, planning and execution

    • Abandonment design, planning and execution

    • Well control equipment and execute well control operations

    • Selection of completion, well intervention hydraulic fracturing units and equipment
