Essential Duties and Responsibilities
:

Greets and directs visitors to appropriate department or person.

Handles all incoming calls and assists caller or directs call to appropriate person.

Handles calls transferred from field offices during lunch.

Processes mail and drop box and credit card payments.

Assists customers with billing questions or complaints; including investigations and follow-up.

Negotiates and assists customers with scheduling payment arrangements.

Posts payments to accounts and processes checks for payment.

Balances drawer and daily cash receipts.

Processes service orders for new service, final bills, and to verify high billings.

Assists customers with new account information – customer contracts, deposits, connections, etc.

Maintains office billing and payment records.

Runs credit checks.

Calculates deposits.

Maintains and continually updates customer data files ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

Records customer service and complaint orders and dispatches electric, water or wastewater personnel.

Processes disconnects and reconnects.

Provides exceptional customer service.

Qualifications
:

A high school education or equivalent.

Two (2) years related work experience is required.

General accounting education desired.

Strong word processing and spreadsheet skills and the ability to use a variety of office equipment such as calculators, copiers, typewriter, facsimile machine, personal computer, etc.

Strong written and verbal communication skills necessary in order to deal with a wide range of personalities both inside and outside the organization.

Able to remain calm and deal tactfully with employees and customers.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, etc.
