Job Description:

You as a Contract Manager will be part of Hitachi Energy business based in Cairo, Egypt. You will be managing and driving the contract and commercial management aspects of grid automation infra-structure projects of all the details ensuring effective and efficient administration of the contracts between Hitachi Energy and the Client, and between Hitachi Energy and main Suppliers, Subcontractors and Partners respectively as per main contract and relevant agreements.

Your responsibilities

  • Advising the Project Director and Project Management Team on contract, legal and insurance issues during project execution.
  • Assisting the Project Director in identifying and monitoring the main contract risks, as well as participating in decision-making on the management of project contract risks.
  • Assisting the Project Director or Manager in developing the contract administration strategy and assuring its implementation throughout the project (i.e., maintaining the contractual records and documentation, contract correspondence, contractual changes, status reports, tools, etc.).
  • Administering the Contract, under the control of the Project Director, ensuring that project is performed in line with Contractor contractual obligations and in compliance with company policy, including tracking and timely issuance of notifications to Client and monitoring of milestones.
  • Managing and championing the Management of change process on the project. This includes change orders, claims, back charges and penalties, new prices, dispute handling and resolution (short of litigation or arbitration) towards the Client, Partners, main subcontractors, and key vendors.
  • Supporting the Project Director with proper negotiation and management of variation orders to maximize returns.
  • Monitoring schedule impacts to baseline schedule, in conjunction with Project Planner and Project Team.
  • Drafting and or reviewing key project correspondence about Contract and Commercial content.
  • Ensuring that all project specific contracts for goods, services, or subcontracts are drafted to incorporate contractor obligations to Client (back-to-back) or transfer of risk, as much as possible, thus assisting the Procurement Function.
  • Providing on-demand contractual clarifications or position statements to project team members as required.
  • Assuring the necessary reporting to the Head of Contract Management, collating all feedback from project, and advising on sufficient resources availability (manning & tools) to effectively correcting and timely administrating the contract.
  • In event of projects of high economic value and or technological complexity, the Contract Manager will be responsible in ensuring coordinated assistance to the Project Director as well as Lead Centers, Engineering, Procurement & Logistic, etc.
  • In event of project execution schemes involving multiple location sites, the Contract Manager will be implementing and overseeing coordinated contract administration for all the locations.

Your background

  • A bachelor’s degree in construction law or engineering (electrical, mechanical, or civil), dispute resolution or contracts management is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 7-years’ experience in the electrical infrastructure or construction industry of which at least 4-years in senior contract and commercial roles in complex technical or engineering-based organization.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in managing medium to large-scale design or build or EPC projects.
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English and Arabic language is required.
