Summary
To provide high quality, patient centred surgical interventions, consultations and management to recipients and donors in the area of lung Transplantation.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Clinical Responsibilities
1. Performs surgical and specialty procedures as required.
2. Provides inpatient and outpatient consultations, treatment and management as assigned. Attends specialty clinics and clinical rounds.
3. Attends specialty clinics and clinical rounds.
4. Participates in the On-Call Rotas for the lung transplant unit.
5. Collaborates and coordinates with other teams and staff members all matters related to lung transplantation.
6. Responsible for donor assessment & selection

Attending and participating in decision making during multidisciplinary weekly lung transplant meeting
8. Participating in the development, expansion and future planning for the Lung Transplant Program at the OTC.
9. Supervising assistant consultants and residents and training fellows in his/her area of expertise.
10. Complying with all hospital related policies and procedures.
11. Performing other related duties as assigned.
Research Responsibilities
1. Participates in clinical, basic, and translational research projects and publishes papers in accordance with Research Advisory Council Policy in order to advance knowledge, improve the quality of post graduate education, and contribute to the national and international recognition of KFSH&RC.
Academic Responsibilities
1. Directs and advices junior staff on patient management, especially in the field of lung transplantation surgery.
2. Guides and actively participates in the training and teaching of Residents, Fellows, Assistant Consultants, and junior staff.
3. Keeps abreast with all the latest techniques and developments, especially in the field of lung transplantation surgery, following and implementing them on a selective basis to improve technical standards.
4. Actively participates in the educational activities and training programs of the department.
5. Participates in national and international medical conferences.
Administrative Responsibilities
1. Undertakes the administrative duties as assigned by Head of Section or Chairman of the department.
2. Participates in all mandatory section/departmental activities and the Organ Transplant Centre’s Activities, i.e. Staff Meeting, Core Lectures, Research Forum, etc and serves on departmental and hospital committees, as required.
3. Assists the section/department in the development and implementation of techniques and practices that help maximize the utilization of all resources within the department and across the hospital.
4. Abides by the current hospital and medical staff bylaws, all relevant rules, regulations and policies and keeps updated of any changes that might occur.
5. Actively contributes to the Division’s and/or the Department’s documentation of patient care processes and outcomes in the medical chart and or The Organ Transplant Registry
Education
Graduation from an accredited medical school with accredited post graduate surgical training, Saudi/Arab/American board certification or equivalent. Membership and/or fellowship status in Europe and/ orNorth America or equivalent. Accredited specialised training in lung transplantation required. or minimum five (5) years-experience in lung transplantation.
Experience Required
Vast experience in lung transplantation and cardiothoracic surgery.
