Job Description

Summary

We are looking for a computer aided design engineer who will join a multi-disciplined engineering team.

The role will include working with the Senior Engineering staff on the execution of various engineering tasks.

The role will predominantly associated with front end engineering design, however, detailed design tasks will be required as necessary.

You will be responsible for: –

• Developing and delivering drawing solutions associated with the NEOM DSO projects, these being up to and including 33kV.

• Providing necessary concept and detailed engineering drawings in the field of electrical engineering.

• Preparation of other engineering drawings, calculations, reports, and designs for electrical substations as requested by and under guidance of Senior Engineers.

• The development of design drawings and documents, modeling and/or analysis, prepare material lists, perform general reviews, and other tasks from simple to more complex projects.

• Perform most design responsibilities on simple to moderately complex projects with the ability to work independently but with some engineering guidance on complex projects.

• The provision of advice, innovation and effective technical support to other members of the project teams to assist in the engineering solutions / designs throughout the lifecycle of projects.

• Work closely with engineering staff, and interface with client engineers, designers, and document control staff.

• Support colleagues as required in development activities and assessments.

• Collation of as-built drawing packages in a timeously manner (as allocated by the Engineers).

• Gathering relevant information to enable the production of accurate drawings.

• Communication and encouragement of the use of drawing standards and procedures.

• Work to and maintain externally audited QA systems.

• Contribution to the maintenance and upkeep of drawing databases.

• Contribution to the maintenance an auditable design/design change system.

• Perform all duties with a strong emphasis on health, safety, quality and environment compliance and continuous improvement.

The role will support the Head of Engineering and Design based in NEOM Base Camp (North-West Saudi-Arabia).

Key Accountabilities and Activities

Design

Responsible for preparation/management of both feasibility and detailed design drawings, relating to the planning and construction of complex DSO projects.

You will have the ability to identify and foresee potential design or construction problems, resolve where possible but ability to escalate where necessary.

You will have the ability to produce.

  • Protection and Control (Indoor) and Physical (Outdoor) aspects of Substation design.
  • 3 D modelling and visualizing projects
  • Key line/Single Line Diagrams.
  • Protection and Control.
  • General Arrangements Sections.
  • Cabling and Foundation Plans.
  • Material Lists (BOM).
  • Relay and Control Systems Schematics.
  • Wiring Diagrams.

Project Management

  • Responsible for the administration of allocated workload.
  • Monitor industry standards and technological advances, to ensure ENOWA is at the leading edge of equipment development and delivery.
  • Identify and progress suggestions and opportunities for process improvements which will enhance service delivery, seeking efficiencies and improvement at all times.

Standards and Guidance

  • Work to and maintain externally audited QA systems.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and upkeep of drawing databases.
  • Contribute to the maintenance an auditable design/design change system.
  • Communication and encouragement of the use of drawing standards and procedures.

Partnership

  • Ensure effective working relationships and communications with other internal operational teams
  • Ensure that strong relationships are built between the team and our customers, in order that there is a clear understanding of their needs and any concerns which are to be addressed timeously.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

The Ideal candidate will demonstrate experience with some or most of the following :-

  • Minimum 5 years of experience developing electrical substation design drawings.
  • Experience of surface, sub terranean and embedded substation design.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical and Raster design software
  • Experience of Electrical Engineering Software
  • Ability to work closely with engineering staff, and interface with client engineers, designers, and document control staff.
