<p>The National, the leading quality news organisation in the Middle East, is looking for a Chief Sub-editor to run our production department.</p><p><br></p><p>The Chief Sub-editor is responsible for production across our platforms, running a team of 20 sub-editors in Abu Dhabi, London, Washington DC and Melbourne who handle over 100 new pieces of content every day. We are looking for someone who will ensure the highest standards of accuracy and readability. You will also be responsible for enforcing The National’s style guide.</p><p><br></p><p>Candidates should have at least five years’ experience running or co-running a news production department. You should be a gifted headline writer – be it for print or SEO. Strong management skills are required. A knowledge of Middle Eastern politics, culture and society is a big advantage.</p><p>The job is office-based in Abu Dhabi.</p><p><br></p><p>The National is one of the leading sources of news about the UAE, Middle East, North Africa and beyond. We are based in Abu Dhabi, with an expanding team of 130 journalists here, as well as bureaux in London, Washington DC, Beirut and Cairo and correspondents across the Mena region and further afield.</p>
