With a projected annual portfolio of more than $100 million and more than 600 staff worldwide, we work with partners in more than 100 countries in four areas essential to progress: cultivating leaders, empowering youth, strengthening institutions, and increasing access to quality education and information.</p><p>The Chief of Party (COP) provides overall technical and administrative leadership and expertise for the program and serves as the primary liaison with USAID on management and technical matters. They will be responsible for the overall management and implementation of the program and report directly to the designated USAID COR. The COP plans, organizes, and supervises the overall activities under the award, and is responsible for award management, technical work, scheduling, and managing costs associated under the award. The COP ensures that all activities conform to the terms and conditions of the award requirements, including cost, schedule and quality parameters. Furthermore, the COP clears on status reports, budget information and other documentation as needed to ensure that they meet the contract requirements and that they are clear, accurate and complete. </p><p>The COP will take a leadership role in coordination among USAID and key stakeholders, and other implementing partners, and will interact with numerous Government of Jordan institutions and senior-level university officials. </p><p>We are doers. Our decades of on-the-ground experience help us create greater impact, practical recommendations, and lasting partnerships.</p><p>Are you the next member of our team?</p><p> </p><p><strong>Your Background & Skills</strong></p><ul><li>Master’s degree from an accredited university in education, social sciences, management, finance, or another field relevant to higher education or international development.</li><li>Minimum of 15+ years of progressive experience managing and implementing education programs, including at least 5 years of experience on higher education programs in developing countries.</li><li>Demonstrated experience working with higher education institutions on capacity development and systems strengthening.</li><li>At least 10 years of experience in higher education in pre-service and/or in-service</li><li>teacher education, in similar/relevant contexts, and experience in managing similar sized</li><li>Demonstrated ability to advise host country contacts at the ministerial level and create and maintain effective working relations with international and local stakeholders, NGOs, local partners, and U.S. Government Agencies.</li><li>Ability to establish strong working relationships and collaboration with senior government officials, education institutions, CSOs, international donors, PS, and other stakeholders.</li><li>Successful track record of supervising, designing, managing, and implementing complex donor-funded technical assistance projects.</li><li>Proven leadership qualities and demonstrated experience in building and effectively supervising a diverse team of employees.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to track and manage budgets and meet project objectives in compliance with USAID rules and regulations.</li><li>Demonstrated understanding of the local context. Previous experience in Jordan and/or the Middle East is preferred. Residents of Jordan are strongly preferred.</li><li>Professional fluency in English in both written and oral communication. Ability to speak Arabic is preferred. </li><li>Must demonstrate valid proof of unrestricted work authorization in Jordan.</li></ul><p><strong>Your Daily Tasks</strong></p><ul><li>Provide strategic and technical leadership to USAID Pre-Service Teacher Education in Jordan, overseeing all staff, consortium partners, and activities to identify efficiencies, maximize results, promote sustainability, and ensure that implementation is on schedule, within budget, and responsively adapting to changes and lessons learned throughout.</li><li>Oversee the work planning process, ensuring activities and technically sound and appropriate to meet program objectives.</li><li>Oversee USAID Pre-Service Teacher Education in Jordan’s Collaborating Learning and Adapting (CLA) process, maintaining a data-informed learning culture across the program and fostering a team-wide commitment to monitoring, evaluation and learning.</li><li>Provide leadership and technical guidance in integrating gender equity and social inclusion approaches throughout the program.</li><li>Serve as the principal liaison with USAID on management and technical matters.</li><li>Serve as the principal liaison with other donors and implementers, key government officials, and program stakeholders. Leverage relationships with these key stakeholders to engage them in strategic convenings during USAID Pre-Service Teacher Education in Jordan that support policy dialogue, exchange of lessons learned and decision making.</li><li>Represent IREX on the Program Steering Committee and ensure alignment with existing governance structures.</li><li>Oversee the development of written communications with key stakeholders to ensure consistent strategic messaging.</li><li>Oversee the implementation of communications strategies for the program.</li><li>Collaborate with other IREX programs and units to exchange learning.</li><li>Oversee compliance with all host-country laws, regulations, taxes, and reporting requirements.</li><li>Oversee compliance with USAID regulations including financial management, agreement compliance and reporting, and ensure that all activities conform to the terms and conditions of the award requirements, including cost, schedule and quality parameters.</li><li>Review and approve status reports, budget information and other documentation as needed to ensure that they meet the contract requirements and that they are clear, accurate and complete.</li><li>Oversee budget and pipeline management, promoting budget discipline and ensuring that the project remains within budget.</li><li>Represent IREX publicly and support its organizational development.</li><li>Articulate the vision and strategic direction for the program and communicate the overall vision and values to staff, partners, and stakeholders.</li><li>Supervise the work of all organizations (sub-contractors) and individuals engaged under the activity.</li><li>Guide coordinated activities across components, leveraging the strengths and technical expertise of individuals, teams and consortium partners to maximize program performance.</li><li>Develop methods and opportunities to build capacities of teams and individuals to implement the program effectively.</li><li>Demonstrate and promote IREX’s values, management principles and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, in management and mentoring of the program team.</li><li>Other duties as assigned.</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>We conduct background checks on all successful candidates.</strong></p><p><strong>This position is eligible for Telework.
