Job Description
<p>Chemonics International seeks a Chief of Party (COP) for an anticipated climate-smart agriculture project in Egypt. It is envisioned that this project will work closely with government counterparts, the private sector, and other stakeholders to support Egypt’s agricultural sector in adopting climate-resilient methods to bolster agricultural productivity and mitigate the effects of climate change. The Chief of Party will serve as the primary point of contact with the donor regarding the day-to-day implementation and management of the project. The COP will oversee project implementation, setting strategic direction and long-term vision guided by a team of diverse thinkers and doers. The Chief of Party will likely be based in Cairo, Egypt.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Anticipated responsibilities may include: </strong></p><p>• Direct implementation of the project’s strategic long-term vision, provides overall leadership, management, and technical direction for the project; </p><p>• Oversee the project team, ensuring all staff and implementing partners are working in tandem to achieve targets and meet reporting requirements; </p><p>• Builds, manages, and maintains effective working relations with the donor, Egyptian government, local partners, relevant NGOs, CSOs, and other program stakeholders; </p><p>• Maintains a high standard of compliance with donor rules and regulations, contractual requirements, and Chemonics policies and systems; </p><p>• Facilitates close collaboration and teamwork, including mentorship and development of staff, with attention paid to professional development opportunities; </p><p>• Serves as the primary liaison between the donor, key stakeholders, implementing partners, and Chemonics Washington on all program-related matters. </p><p><br></p><p><strong>Qualifications:</strong> </p><p>• Advanced degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in international development, agriculture, environment, climate science, public policy, or another related field; </p><p>• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience implementing donor-funded programs of similar scale, scope, complexity; </p><p>• Demonstrated experience working in agricultural development, climate adaptation and mitigation, climate smart technologies, climate finance, and/or private sector climate investment; </p><p>• Work experience in the Middle East and North Africa region and specifically Egypt is preferred; </p><p>• Demonstrated ability to establish strong working relationships with government officials, NGOs/grantees, local media, the private sector, and other donors; </p><p>• Demonstrated ability to work in challenging environments and with multicultural teams; </p><p>• Strong managerial, administrative, and writing skills; </p><p>• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills and exceptional oral and written communication skills; </p><p>• Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity; </p><p>• Fluency in English, both verbally and in writing. </p><p><br></p><p><strong>To Apply:</strong></p><p>Interested candidates should submit their EOIs with attached CVs and cover letters using this link: https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/40c78ebfaa174813a675fea24a382c4a by <strong>Sunday, June 25</strong>.</p>
