Our faculty are committed to delivering pedagogically-sound learning experiences with incorporation of innovative technological interventions, to further enhance students’ skills and help develop talented graduates that can effectively contribute to a knowledge-based economy and make Qatar’s National Vision 2030 a reality.<p><br></p>The Library Services Directorate invites applications for the position of Cataloging Librarian.<p><br></p><strong>Your Commitment</strong><p><br></p>Reporting to the Head, Library Technologies and Archives, the successful candidate will manage the daily operations of the Library Services physical and digital cataloging and metadata services.<p><br></p><strong>Duties & Responsibilities</strong><p><br></p><strong>Operational</strong><p><br></p>The successful candidate will assist in the development of policies, procedures and guidelines for cataloguing, metadata and resource description and ensure they are implemented and followed. Also, create and develop short-term and long-term project plans for the cataloging and processing of future and existing materials and collections that improve the discovery of and access to the UDST physical collection.<p><br></p>The successful candidate will apply cataloguing and metadata best practices to ensure that efficient, timely and appropriate access is provided to physical and digital collections. And manage and assist in processing, cataloguing, classification, and serials management according to international standards.<p><br></p>The successful candidate will create, update and modify database records in Integrated Library System (ILS) or other information management systems to ensure quality data and metadata, providing user-friendly access to collections. Related tasks may include but are not limited to description of materials, transformation of metadata, training of staff in best practices related to metadata production and digital libraries, and reviewing the work of contributors to ensure that it adheres to relevant standards and procedures.<p><br></p>The successful candidate will work closely with Head, Library Technologies and Archives to manage batch-loading and maintenance of catalog records received from vendors, as well as perform regular bibliographic record maintenance.<p><br></p>The successful candidate will communicate frequently and effectively with all business units, staff, faculty and administrators in a timely manner regarding cataloguing procedures and related library services. And Investigate and remain aware of external library systems and techniques related to cataloguing, metadata and any other relevant activities.<p><br></p>The successful candidate will perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.<p><br></p><strong>Qualifications</strong><p><br></p><strong>Qualifications </strong><p><br></p><strong>Education and Certifications:</strong><p><br></p>ALA-accredited or equivalent Master’s degree in Library and Information Science.<p><br></p><strong>Experience:</strong><p><br></p>Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, with 2 years of supervisory and 2 years of cataloguing experience.<p><br></p><strong>Language: </strong><p><br></p>Fluency in written and spoken English language is required.<p><br></p>Fluency in written and spoken Arabic language is preferred.<p><br></p><strong>Other Required Skills</strong><p><br></p>Self-Development, Concern for Order and Quality, Reliability and Dependability, Relationship Building and Time Management with technical competencies in Library and Information Science and Process Design and Efficiency are required.<p><br></p><strong>How to Apply: </strong><p><br></p>Applications should be submitted via our online application portal by clicking the “Apply now” button below.<p><br></p><ul><li>Collaborative and collegial spirit and a demonstrated ability to establish rapport with learners, colleagues, sponsor-employers, and members of the community. </li><li>Experience in leadership and innovation in technology-based projects. </li></ul><p><br></p>Applicants must meet all essential qualifications in order to be shortlisted for the position; other qualifications may be a deciding factor in selection.
