We are pleased to announce this incredibly exciting opportunity to be part of Qatar Airways Cargo Operations team as a Cargo Safety Compliance Manager in our office in Doha.

As a Cargo Safety Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for managing the safety standards and safety performance globally ensuring continuous improvement of the safety management system (SMS) and operational performance within the Cargo network including stakeholders and suppliers.

• To develop a cargo safety programme to the importance of safety within the cargo business and ensure all stakeholders and staff are engaged in it. Develop and implement a freighter safety plan to ensure all future growth has consistency of safety standards and implementation across the network.
• To develop a hazard identification and risk management program, manage and maintain the risk register up-to-date, conduct investigations and risk assessments. 
• To continue improve the safety culture within Cargo, manage safety promotion, safety training and release safety information to the cargo network as well as  develop and deliver safety seminars and campaigns.
• To ensure integration of the Corporate SMS/OHSMS strategy, objectives, policies and procedures into the Cargo SMS/OHSMS and full adherence to the company’s Safety Management Systems standards and requirements and to ensure procedures and practices are integrated within the Cargo Integrated Management System that includes safety, security, dangerous goods and other special loads.
• To manage the escalation and immediate response to significant events integrating into the Cargo and Corporate Emergency Response Programs, plans and procedures for freighter only stations, in conjunction with the corporate Emergency Response structure and procedures as well as to liaise with QR Cargo network, GHAs, and other relevant QR departments measuring, monitoring and managing the safety performance of the Cargo network.
• To develop and implement action plans to deliver on all Safety related KPI for Cargo, including developing reporting programmes for management in Cargo, Ground Services and Corporate Safety as well as to ensure the Cargo SMS meets Qatar Civil Aviation regulatory requirements and IATA standards.
• To recommend best practices for safe operation in accordance to airline best practices standards, review all Cargo and Ground manuals and procedures to ensure the safety elements are kept updated, maintained and developed, review all safety related training elements and ensure Safety is a core value of all training courses and remains relevant and updated to continue improve operational performance.

Qualifications

About you

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with minimum 6 years of job-related experience within the airline or ground handling environment
• Thorough knowledge of Safety Management System – Principles and Procedures
•  Knowledge of freighter aircraft operation, ground handling and cargo operations
• Completed Investigation Training, Safety Management System Training, and Risk Management / Hazard Identification and Risk Management Training
• Knowledge of Dangerous Goods Regulations and understanding of SGHA Agreement clauses
•  Ability to write safety procedures and manual, with strong organizational, leadership and managerial skills
•  Excellent command of English language verbally and in writing
•  Good command of Windows Office Package (Word, Excel, Power Point) and familiar with safety systems and software
