Location: Egypt – Cairo About the Role We are looking for an experienced and passionate Career Guidance Counsellor (Local Hire) to join our team for the next academic year commencing from Sept 2023.
This position is to guide and counsel students through the British programs and towards further studies and careers after school.
– Career Counseling: Conduct individual and group counseling sessions with students to assist them in exploring their interests, abilities, and career aspirations. Provide guidance on subject choices for iGCSE and A levels liaising with University Guidance Counselor.
– Assessments and Aptitude Testing: Administer and interpret career assessments and aptitude tests to evaluate students’ strengths, interests, and skills. Use the results to help students explore suitable career options and develop personalized career plans.
– Information and Resource Provision: Research and maintain up-to-date information on universities, colleges, vocational training institutions, and employment opportunities in Egypt and abroad. Provide students with relevant resources, including brochures, cataloguess, websites, and online platforms.
– College and University Applications: Assist University Guidance Counselor in preparing students for college and university applications, including personal statements, resumes, and recommendation letters. Guide them through the application process, deadlines, and scholarship opportunities.
– Work Experience and Internships: Assist University Guidance Counselor with work experience and internship opportunities for students, liaising with local businesses and organisations. Help students develop job search strategies, prepare for interviews, and acquire necessary employability skills.
– Career Workshops and Presentations: Organise and deliver workshops, presentations, and career fairs to raise awareness about various career options and pathways. Collaborate with teachers to integrate career-related topics into the curriculum.
– Parent and Teacher Collaboration: Maintain regular communication with parents and teachers to ensure a collaborative approach to career guidance. Provide guidance to parents on supporting their child’s career development and help teachers incorporate careers education into their lesson plans.
– Professional Development: Stay updated with current trends, changes in the job market, and educational requirements for different careers. Attend professional development workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance your knowledge and skills in career guidance.

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., counseling, psychology, education) Previous experience in career counseling or related fields is desirable Familiarity with the British curriculum and knowledge of higher education systems in the UK and Egypt Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, parents, and staff Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Empathy and understanding to support students in their career exploration and decision-making processes Proficiency in using career assessment tools and online resources. Fluency in English, both written and verbal, and Arabic.
