Summary

The Business Manager prepares/executes issue identification/resolution and projects within Customer & Digital (C&D) and acts as the ‘Chief of Staff’ to the Exec Director C&D. In this capacity he/she manages interactions with key internal & external stakeholders, drives (strategic) projects and actively participates in shaping the C&D agenda, acts as a sparring partner and provides the C&D ED and his Mgt team with advice on all relevant matters. The business manager is furthermore responsible for a small team that drives the C&D HR, financial & procurement management & some other supporting processes to the C&D ED and his team.

Key Accountabilities And Responsibilities

Business Management

  • Build & maintain relevant knowledge of the energy sector and the specific C&D domains
  • Prepare, monitor, coordinate and communicate the strategic/tactical agenda of the department
  • Drive or support the ED in ad hoc and/or structural programs, projects or activities (eg. energy sector initiatives, issue management, …)
  • Support the C&D ED and his team with creation of storylines/presentations, business cases, etc.
  • Collect, analyze, and utilize data and feedback to identify opportunities to foster and improve:
    • C&D related internal and external communication,
    • the relationship between the department and the other entities (internal/external)
    • Ways of working in C&D and between C&D and the wider stakeholder universe
  • Act as a positive representative of the ED and the sector/department to the stakeholder universe
  • Act as ‘Chief of Staff’ to the C&D ED:
    • Establishing and managing HR, Procurement and Finance processes, structures, policies, standards, reports, and frameworks required for visibility, control, effectiveness, and efficiency, supporting the critical business objectives of the department
    • Identify, shape and coordinate opportunities to improve business processes and outcomes through organizational assessments, design and change
    • Drive consistent and transparent financial and risk/opportunity reporting to accurately align business value with C&D CAPEX/OPEX costs/risks/opportunities.

Experience

Knowledge, Skills and E xperience

  • Highly talented individual with appx. 5-7 years work experience, ideally coming from a strategy/consultancy background.
  • Proven experience in designing, managing and delivering complex organization transformation programs.
  • Experience in people and organization management, especially in an agile way of working context.
  • Specific experience working in Utility Sector is a huge plus.
  • Relevant experience with stakeholder management.

Knowledge

  • Understanding of Energy and wider (digital) Technology capabilities and trends.
  • Full understanding of all HR functions and best practices.
  • Knowledge of project management technics.
  • Business/management expertise (business processes and systems).
  • Data interpretation and visualization.
  • Knowledge of Quality Standards/Procedures.
  • Solid knowledge of conducting different types of interviews (structured, competency-based, stress etc.).

  • A good understanding of electricity markets and networks, and in particular the challenges of decarbonization and the creation of renewables-based electricity systems.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business or technical field.
  • Proven track record of success, possibly backed-up by a positive referral.
  • Relevant advanced certifications from top-tier companies / education platforms.
