As an Athletics Coach, you will provide your expertise and knowledge in establishing and implementing a strategic development plan for Athletics.</p><p><br></p><p>The goal of the Athletics program is to develop athletes with the long-term potential to represent Qatar at senior international competitions such as the World Athletics Championships and Olympic Games. The first step on this journey is to develop internationally competitive athletes that can represent Qatar at World U20 Championships and Asian Athletics U18 and U20 Championships.</p><p><br></p><p><strong><u>You are:</u></strong> able to deliver high quality coaching in Track &amp; Field Athletics, as part of an interdisciplinary team, to Aspire student and part-time athletes between the ages of 11 and 19 years old. Work in collaboration with fellow coaches and support staff to plan and manage a wholistic program of development for, with a focus on Sprint &amp; Hurdle Events.</p><p>The role includes working primarily with young athletes in the Pre-Academy, with scope to also support the wider Development program. You will be working as a team comprised of 4-6 coaches, alongside sports science and medical staff, pastoral care professionals and administrative staff. A key part of this role involves visiting primary schools and sports clubs to identify athletes for the Pre-Academy as well as organizing competitions and testing events both at Aspire Academy and off-site.</p><p><br></p><p><strong><u>We are</u>: </strong>a highly regarded team of professionals who love challenges and working under pressure in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, and athletes-focused environment.</p><p><br></p><p><strong><u>Together we’ll be:</u></strong> a passionate team. We’ll work together with a great commitment, as an integral part of the academy, striving to achieve the same standards of excellence in the field of expertise in Athletics.</p><p> </p><p><strong><u>What will you do – Main responsibilities:</u></strong></p><p><br></p><ul><li>Help to identify potential candidates to join the Pre-Academy by visiting primary schools and Sports Clubs across Qatar.</li><li>Ability to deliver high quality, age-appropriate Athletics coaching.</li><li>Ability to teach relevant Athletics specific skills, tactics and techniques.</li><li>Performance analysis and monitoring.</li><li>Performance planning and documentation.</li><li>Ability to create an engaging training environment and motivate developing athletes.</li><li>Understanding of and growth and maturation and its impact on performance.</li><li>Ability to tailor coaching behavior to developing athletes of different ages and stages of development.</li><li>Undertake physical testing and collect data on potential candidates.</li><li>Organize and staff, fun competitions to help identify potential candidates.</li><li>Contribute to the on-going refinement of the Pre-Academy Program including but not limited to the annual training and competition plan, weekly schedule and coaching curriculum.</li><li>Create resources to support the implementation of the Pre-Academy program.</li><li>Support the Head Coach and Lead Coaches as required with the planning and daily management of the Pre-Academy.</li><li>Contribute to the on-going refinement of the Development Program including but not limited to the annual training and competition plan, weekly schedule and coaching curriculum.</li><li>Support the Head Coach and Lead Coaches as required with the planning and daily management of the Development program.</li><li>Work as part of an integrated team alongside sports scientists and other staff members to provide a holistic service to support athlete development and optimize performance.</li><li>Work alongside fellow coaches and support staff to create an engaging training environment that results in high levels of attendance.</li><li>Utilize the latest coaching methods and methodologies to assist athletes in developing the attributes required to fulfil their potential.</li><li>Delivers high quality, age-appropriate Athletics coaching to student-athletes by:</li><li>Teaching relevant skills, tactics and techniques.</li><li>Monitoring and enhancing performance by providing tuition, encouragement and constructive feedback.</li><li>Identifying strengths and weaknesses and taking actions to improve performance.</li><li>Advising about health and lifestyle issues.</li><li>At Aspire you will work as part of an interdisciplinary team alongside other coaches, sports scientists, sports medicine staff and pastoral care professionals (team coordinators). This necessitates:</li><li>Building and maintaining strong relationships with fellow staff members.</li><li>Attending weekly planning and scheduling meetings with fellow coaches and support staff so everyone is aware of training plans and other factors that could affect performance.</li><li>Meeting informally on a daily basis with members of your team to discuss athlete progress and how to improve all elements of the program.</li><li>Supporting other members of your team and the wider Aspire community to facilitate athlete sporting performance where appropriate and necessary.</li><li>Work in conjunction with fellow coaches and support staff to identify and recruit new athletes to the Athletics program.</li><li>Attend recruitment events and testing sessions.</li><li>Regularly visit Athletics clubs and arrange to meet and assess athletes that could enter the Academy.</li><li>Keep the electronic records of athletes you support up to date on Aspire’s athlete management system (Smartabase).</li><li>Keep training and competition plans up to date and accessible to other staff in your team. This includes detailed daily training plans so others can deliver your session if they need to replace you in the session.</li><li>Inform other relevant parties of changes to plans as soon as possible, so they can take action where necessary. Ideally such changes should be communicated at least 1 hour in advance of a training.</li><li>Work with fellow coaches and support staff to organize and deliver competitions.</li><li>Enter all results for athletes you support into Smartabase within 24h of the competition and take responsibility for modifying and updating this data to ensure it is accurate and complete.</li><li>Check emails and attend to messages and discussion threads on Microsoft TEAMS on a daily basis. Action all administrative tasks within 24h to facilitate smooth operation of the department.</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong><u>Qualifications and requirements:</u></strong></p><p> </p><p><u> Essential requirements:</u></p><p><br></p><ul><li>3-5 years of related experience of which a minimum of 1 year should be in a similar position/responsibility, preferably in a similar Industry or as per the Director of the Department.</li><li>Relevant Athletics coaching accreditation ideally via World Athletics.</li><li>Significant relevant experience specifically in Sprints and Hurdles: 100m, 200m, 400m, 100mH, 110mH, 400mH.</li><li>Significant relevant experience work with developing athletes (11-19 years old).</li><li>High level knowledge of Track and Field Athletics and Long-Term Athlete Development.</li><li>High level knowledge of growth and maturation as well as its impact on training and performance.</li><li>High level knowledge of physical preparation and sports science disciplines related to improving performance with developing athletes.</li><li>Good interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with other coaches and support staff.</li><li>Good at administration and use of IT systems, Microsoft Office and Power BI.</li><li>University related qualifications in coaching/exercise/sports science.</li></ul><p> <u>Desirable requirements:</u></p><p><br></p><ul><li>Physical Education Teaching Qualification (e.g. PGCE, QTS or equivalent). </li><li>Experience and knowledge of other power speed events (Jumps, Throws etc.) </li><li>Sport school/academy experience working directly with groups of adolescent youths in both primary and secondary education.</li><li>Qualified S&amp;C coach through UKSCA, ASCA, NSCA or another similar organization. </li><li>Sports Rehabilitation / Sports Massage Therapy qualification.</li><li>Arabic speaking.</li></ul>
