As an Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) in Abu Dhabi, your role would be to support the Resident Engineer (RE) in overseeing construction projects and ensuring that they are completed successfully and according to specifications. Your specific job duties may vary depending on the nature of the project and the Client you work for.

Job description : Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE)

Project Management: Assist the Resident Engineer in coordinating and managing all aspects of the construction project. This includes planning, scheduling, and monitoring project progress to ensure timely completion.

Quality Assurance: Ensure that construction work meets the required quality standards and complies with relevant codes, regulations, and specifications.

Inspections: Conduct regular site inspections to assess construction progress, identify any issues or discrepancies, and verify compliance with project plans and specifications.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of project activities, including daily reports, material submittals, RFIs (Requests for Information), and other relevant documentation.

Communication: Facilitate communication between different stakeholders, such as contractors, sub-contractors, consultants, and the client. This involves relaying information from the Resident Engineer to the construction team and vice versa.

Problem Solving: Collaborate with the Resident Engineer and other team members to resolve any construction-related problems or challenges that may arise during the project.

Health and Safety: Promote and enforce strict adherence to health and safety guidelines at the construction site to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.

Cost Control: Assist in monitoring project expenses and cost control measures to stay within the budget.

Progress Reporting: Prepare regular progress reports for the Resident Engineer and project management team, updating them on the status of the project and any issues that may impact progress.

Technical Support: Provide technical support to the construction team, including interpreting design drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

Submittal Review: Assist in reviewing and approving material and equipment submittals from contractors to ensure they meet project requirements.

Change Management: Participate in the assessment and evaluation of change orders and variations, providing input on their validity and potential impact on the project.

Site Meetings: Attend project meetings, taking notes, and assisting in the resolution of technical issues and conflicts.

Training: Keep abreast of the latest construction technologies, materials, and best practices through continuous learning and training.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

  • Previous experience in construction management or a similar role on construction projects.

  • Familiarity with relevant construction codes, regulations, and standards.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in project management and construction-related software tools.
