Accountant (Financial Reporting and Budgeting)<br><br>American International University, Kuwait<br><br>We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. As an Accountant, you will primarily be responsible for assisting in financial reporting and budgeting activities.<br><br>Key Responsibilities:<br><br>1- Financial Reporting:<br><ul><li>Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.</li><li>Compile and analyze financial data to support accurate and timely reporting.</li><li>Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and University policies.</li><li>Assist with the preparation of financial reports for Management.</li><li>Assist with the preparation of financials for year-end audits.<br></li></ul>2- Budgeting and Forecasting:<br><ul><li>Support the budgeting and forecasting processes.</li><li>Collect and analyze financial data to assist in the development of budgets and financial plans.</li><li>Collaborate with various departments to gather budget inputs and ensure accuracy.</li><li>Monitor budget performance, investigate variances, and provide relevant analysis.<br></li></ul>3- General Accounting Support:<br><ul><li>Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes.</li><li>Reconcile accounts, resolve discrepancies, and prepare journal entries as needed.</li><li>Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.</li><li>Assist with audit requests and provide necessary documentation.<br></li></ul>4- Process Improvement:<br><ul><li>Identify opportunities for process improvements in financial reporting and budgeting.</li><li>Propose and implement efficient and effective solutions to enhance accuracy and productivity.</li><li>Stay updated on accounting standards and industry best practices.<br></li></ul>Qualifications and Skills:<br><ul><li> Chartered Accountant (CA), ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) with a minimum 2 years’ experience in financial reporting/ FP&amp;A preferred.</li><li> Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.</li><li> Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (primarily IFRS).</li><li> Experience of having worked in ERP environments preferred.</li><li> Transferable residency is required in Kuwait.</li><li> Proficient in Microsoft Excel.</li><li> Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.</li><li> Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.</li><li> Effective written and verbal communication skills.</li><li> Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.<br></li></ul>About American International University:<br><br>AIU is a new institution of higher education in Kuwait whose first student cohort was admitted in fall 2019.
