As the sole Accountant, you will be responsible for managing all financial activities, including collections, financial transactions, reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations specific to the insurance industry.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p><p>Financial Transactions:</p><ul><li>Record and maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.</li><li>Process client payments and monitor outstanding balances.</li><li>Perform regular reconciliations of client accounts and resolve any discrepancies.</li></ul><p></p><p>Collections:</p><ul><li>Follow up on outstanding client balances and initiate collection activities.</li><li>Maintain regular communication with clients regarding payment status and provide assistance in resolving payment issues.</li><li>Collaborate with the relevant departments to address client inquiries and concerns related to payments.</li></ul><p><br></p><p>Reconciliation and Audit:</p><ul><li>Perform reconciliations of insurance carrier statements with brokerage records.</li><li>Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial audits specific to insurance brokerage operations.</li><li>Identify and resolve discrepancies or irregularities in financial records related to insurance transactions.</li><li>Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with industry regulations.</li></ul><p><br></p><p>Tax Compliance:</p><ul><li>Assist in the preparation and filing of annual tax returns specific to insurance brokerage operations.</li><li>Collaborate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.</li><li>Provide support during tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.</li></ul><p><br></p><p>Financial Systems and Processes:</p><ul><li>Contribute to the development and improvement of financial systems and processes tailored to insurance brokerage operations.</li><li>Utilize insurance-specific accounting software to streamline financial operations.</li><li>Provide training and support to staff on financial policies and procedures related to insurance activities.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Qualifications</strong>:</p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.</li><li>Minimum of 5 years of proven experience working as an Accountant.</li><li>Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations specific to insurance operations.</li><li>Proficiency in using insurance-specific accounting software and MS Office Suite.</li><li>Attention to detail and ability to work with numerical data accurately.</li><li>Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, specifically within insurance brokerage operations.</li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.</li><li>Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) are preferred.</li></ul><p><br></p><p>Join our team and play a vital role in the financial success of our insurance brokerage firm.
