Job Description
Our client in Abu Dhabi, has introduced and is leading several initiatives to optimize the value of the reserves portfolio of Abu Dhabi. The Company is now looking for another milestone in the optimization of their full reserves potential and the economic portfolio for the country by looking at the potential of so-called paleo oil. Paleo oil is an oil accumulation below the free water level.
For this, a multi-disciplinary team must be in place to execute the study. The team needs a senior 3D Reservoir Simulation Engineer. It is expected that the study will last for the remainder of the year, and the study will be executed in client鈥檚 office in Abu Dhabi. The SCOPE OF WORKS, as defined by the client include:
1. Evaluate the paleo oil volumes in existing fields and propose ideal methods to maximize asset value.
2. Detailed report to document detailed analysis performed by each discipline during the study.
3. Maps for each reservoir to track the paleo oil in Petrel Format.
4. Build road map to include the paleo oil volumes into existing developments including conversion of these volumes to reserves as quickly as possible
5. Investigate at high level the costs (CAPEX & OPEX) associated with such development projects.
6. Propose way forward to reduce costs and improve value for existing development scenarios.
The general experience and skill sets for the team include, but are not limited to:
路 Highly experienced and directly familiar with client鈥檚 Assets and Oil & Gas Fields Development challenges.
路 Expertise in reserves management and portfolio analysis.
路 Strong background in geoscience aspects (seismic, structure stratigraphic, log interpretation, core fundamental analysis –etc.).
路 Capable to build quick representative conceptual and static models.
路 Strong background in reservoir engineering fundamental, and field development.
路 Experience in running independent project.
路 Special skills in resolving special problems (e.g., Development challenges, Tight Reservoir Development, Reserves Management and Reservoir Health KPI鈥檚).
路 Good communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with client鈥檚 engineers.
路 Work independently and suggest innovative ideas to improve and enhance the solution.
Experience in developing Standard Operating Procedures for oil and gas reservoirs management.
Specific Responsibilities for the 3D Reservoir Simulation Engineer:
To achieve the main objective of the study, the evaluation and quantification of the paleo oil opportunities within the client鈥檚 portfolio, and the value net to client, the multidisciplinary team includes an experienced 3D Reservoir Simulation Engineer. The simulation engineer has a multitude of responsibilities:
He will review the existing reservoir simulations on the various reservoirs (primary field); This includes, but is not limited to:
路 Assisting the geologist / petrophysicist in the determination of the volume of net oil to client in place.
路 Help building a roadmap to economically recover this volume.
路 Review all reservoir data and identify the presence of paleo oil (joint effort with geologist / petrophysicist.).
路 Characterization of Paleo oil saturation.
路 Categorize oil saturation (I, II or III).
路 Review the origin of oil saturation and regional characterization outside filed boundaries.
路 Will lead any FDP review/alteration if needed
In joint effort with geologist / petrophysicist:
路 Recovery targets
路 Estimate deterministic paleo volumes
路 Estimate P90, P50 and P10 volumes
路 Screen for large and promising recovery reservoir targets
路 Estimate RFs.
路 Identify suitable recovery mechanism
路 Feasibility of depressurizing mechanisms
路 EOR screening (chemical/CO2/Hybrid)
路 Assess if completely miscible or near miscible CO2 injection is possible.
路 Evaluate oil properties based on the oil from the conventional oil areas and estimate minimum miscibility pressures for CO2 EOR application.
路 Production Analog Review
路 Review the global analogs for residual oil zone production
Many of these duties will be a joint effort with the other team disciplines.
