TITLE: ( 02 ) FSL Project Assistants – ECHO
TEAM/PROGRAMME: Food Security and Livelihood (FSL)   LOCATION: Hajjah

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: 
Level 3:  the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
ROLE PURPOSE: 
Save the children is responding to the ongoing conflict areas that affected the lives and livelihoods of millions of People in Yemen. The food security and livelihoods project is focusing on addressing the immediate food gaps and livelhoods protection needs while also looking at the recovery of livelihoods activities and stabilization of the food security situation ith longer term.
The FSL project assistant will be respobnsible for ensuring the implementation of the emergency food security and livelihoods project as outlined below. The project assistant will be part of the FSL team based in Hajjah field office and will be responsible for day to day activities implementation under the supervision of the FSL officers.

Key roles include – community sensitization on project activities and objectives as detailed below, community mobilization, beneficiary selection and registration, facilitate community meetings, facilitate formation of project committees, post distribution monitoring,  routine monitoring of project activities and regular collection of information on humanitarian situation and provide updates to Hajjah field office.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :
Programme Support:

•   esponsible for FSL day to day activity implementation at sub-County and Ward level;
•   Sensitize communities on project objectives and activities; 
•   Work closely with the project officers, local government offices and the communities; 
•   Ensure beneficiary selection procedure and criteria are understood by the community and followed by the targeting committees;

•   Ensure any feedback from beneficiaries or target communities are shared timely to project officers and that they are responded to appropriately or raised with the Project Coordinator and Field the APM as needed;
•   Support in conducting any FSL related assessments and relevant data collection and analysis based on needs identified. 
•   Coordinate technical and logistical arrangements for the Project activities at community level, engaging community groups and structure and liaising with County government staff supporting the project through technical capacity
•   Prepare and follow up on a day to day and weekly activity plans; 
•   Provide regular report to the project officer regarding the progress of project activities in the respective operation areas; 
•   Coordinate with project officers and field finance team in the planning of cash distribution dates and locations. 
•   Ensure that beneficiaries are adequately communicated about project activities and plans, including distribution date, location, the cash delivery mechanism, required forms of verification and identification, and the amount of cash grant received and the duration of the transfers;  
Understand PDM tools and price monitoring tools and ensure that appropriate procedures, processes and quality standards are met in the collection of data; 
•   Undertake any other FSL related tasks as assigned by the line manager;Ensure correct beneficiary selection procedure and criteria are followed by Project Assistants.
•   Ensure any feedback from beneficiaries or target communities shared by Project Assistants are responded to appropriately or raised with Coordinator, Manager or Technical Advisors (CP and FSL) if needed

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential:
•   University degree in Social sciences, economics, development, food security and livelihoods, nutrition, agriculture/livestock production or related field. 
•   Extensive and proven experience in implementation of Cash Transfer Programs, livestock-based livelihoods activities; Income Generating Activities;). 
•   Minimum of 2 years of experience of implementation of Food Security and Livelihoods Project in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands. 
•   Excellent planning, coordination, facilitation and reporting skills, with the ability to organize and manage substantial workload. Experience of working with and coordinating with multiple stakeholders including the government will be an added advantage.
•   Strong communication, people management and interpersonal skills, with experience in working with in a multicultural, multi-location, value driven teams.
•   Experience working in the marginalised communities and understanding of challenges facing women, youth and children. 
•   Computer literacy, particularly in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
•   Commitment to Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding and other global policies, and values.
•   Excellent understanding of child rights programming. 
Desirable 
•   Experience working on cash, voucher or other food security and livelihoods programming
