SUMMARY:  VSE is looking for a certified Marine Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Mechanic for its Federal &amp; Defense Services Business sector, to support the Iraq Vessel Maintenance and Repair Program.  <p><br></p>This position is located in Umm Qasr, Iraq and reports to the VSE In-Country Manager in Umm Qasr. This positions supports the Iraqi Navy (IqN) in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of their naval vessels (35m Patrol Boats, 60m Offshore Support Vessels, 27 ft. Defenders, Dredgers) as well as shore facilities.  <p><br></p>This individual must be certified to provide technical support actions including equipment inspection, corrective repairs performed, installation and trouble call response on a timely basis. Equipment includes outdoor chillers, air handling units, fan cooling units, exhaust fans, cooling coils, electronic equipment cooling water systems, pumps, motors, chilled water, de-ionized water systems, compressed air systems, desiccant air driers, voltage regulators. The technical support includes equipment condition monitoring, preventive, corrective, and emergency service to minimize the training downtime of the command. <p><br></p>This position is contingent upon award. <p><br></p>DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES : <p><br></p><ul><li>Expertise in marine HVAC systems and controls required. </li><li>Install, retrofit, and repair marine air conditioning and refrigeration systems on naval vessels and in shore installations.  </li><li>Perform installations, repairs, overhauls, and start-ups of marine HVAC and refrigeration systems. </li><li>Use a variety of hand tools, following blueprints, wiring diagrams, piping schemes, or engineering specifications, to diagnose and repair units. </li><li>Use power tools. </li><li>Identify, analyze, diagnose, and repairs systems and products onboard vessels. </li><li>Perform preventative maintenance, survey, replacement, and modification as needed or requested by customers. </li><li>Perform service on warranty and non-warranty systems. </li><li>Prepare for on-site installation and repairs by examining boat layout, anticipate difficulties, gather materials and coordinate on-site work, as necessary. </li><li>Maintain tools and equipment by inspecting for signs of wear. </li><li>Document work by completing paperwork on each job and maintaining files and reports. </li></ul><p><br></p>Provide technical support to customers. <p><br></p><ul><li>Experience with water source heat pumps and refrigeration is a plus. </li><li>Possess analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills required to manage multiple on-going projects. </li><li>Lead a team of third-party nationals with marine HVAC skills in carrying out the scope of work.  </li><li>In compliance with Executive Order 14042, any successful applicant for this position must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or obtain an accommodation from the vaccination requirement based on disability or sincerely held religious belief, on or before the start date. </li></ul><p><br></p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: <p><br></p><ul><li>High School/ GED</li><li>American Boat and Yacht Council Marine A/C Refrigeration Certification and/or EPA Section 608 HVAC Technician Certification and/or military marine HVAC training credentials. </li><li>Experience with HVAC work aboard military vessels. </li><li>Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check. </li><li>Position is contingent on incumbent ability to obtain and maintain an active VISA, and travel restriction lift. </li></ul><p><br></p><strong><u>Other</u></strong><p><br></p><ul><li>The selected applicant will be subject to a background check and drug testing.</li></ul><p><br></p>Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
