Job Description
Material Planner should be able to ensure that the supply of materials meet the production schedule and minimum stock levels to ensure operational, production continuity and meet on time delivery. Able to deliver efficient, effective and flexible solutions to meet production requirements. Maintains strong relationships both internally and externally to ensure supply of materials meets requirements, creating and maintaining inventory schedules. Work under general supervision and as per Management directive.<p><br></p><strong>Essential Responsibilities</strong><p><br></p><ul><li>Assess volume requirements against Production forecast, Scheduling and overseeing the supply and delivery of materials and products.</li><li>Day-to-day order management and management of deliveries, ensuring materials meet specifications, quality standards, and are cost-efficient.</li><li>Understand and manage risks to minimize impact on production schedule, ensuring the consistent and adequate supply of materials necessary for production.</li><li>Forecast, plan and facilitate on-time materials to the production as and when required, avoiding disruption to production. Liaising with Warehouse, manufacturing, and purchasing.</li><li>Utilize any Material Requirements Planning system (MRP) or IT system that is in place and ensure that data is accurate and up to date and resolve any issues as required</li><li>Monitor the integrity of Bill of Materials (BOM) and manage inventory accuracy.</li><li>Monitor inventory levels against agreed target levels (E&O Reserve)</li><li>Support inventory checks to validate inventory accuracy, Managing inventory issues.</li><li>Minimize obsolete stock and ensure business is left with minimum liability</li><li>Create regular statistical reports and analysis and update respective departments as required.</li><li>Implement all processes to agreed standards and targets and support continuous improvement initiatives and identify areas of improvement</li></ul><p><br></p><strong>Position Requirements</strong><p><br></p><ul><li>Degree in business, logistics, inventory management, or a related field preferred.</li><li>2+ years of experience in material planning, inventory management, purchasing, or a related position.</li><li>Strong organizational and time management skills.</li><li>Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management.</li><li>Good communication skills, both verbal and written.</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office – advanced Excel skills and material management systems (ERPLX is a plus).</li><li>Good communicator with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally</li><li>Commercial and financial awareness with a full understanding of how failure impacts the costs, production, manufacture and customer order fulfilment</li><li>Results orientated and organized with the ability to plan and deliver against deadlines</li><li>Strong analytical, planning and problem solving skills</li><li>Project management skills</li><li>Good understanding of supply chain processes and their interdependencies</li><li>Understanding of supplier relationships and some experience of working with suppliers</li><li>Knowledge and experience of using MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems or similar</li><li>Knowledge of lean techniques will be an advantage</li></ul>
