<strong><u>Position Description<br><br></u></strong><strong>EnCompass LLC </strong>is seeking a <strong>Deputy Chief of Party</strong> to provide technical and managerial oversight for the Women’s Economic Empowerment and Leadership Activity, USAID/Jordan Makanati. USAID/Jordan Makanati works with partners and stakeholders to encourage women to consider career choices in high-growth, priority sectors and promote the recruitment, retention, and advancement of women in Jordan’s labor force using a targeted sector and regional focus. The Activity’s goal is to establish pathways through which social change and economic opportunities lead to a systemic shift from women’s exclusion to inclusion in market systems and increase women’s economic participation in the private sector. This holistic approach will bridge the gap between women’s and men’s inclusion in the workforce and, overall, will contribute to inclusive economic growth in Jordan. We are looking for someone who has a combination of technical familiarity and management skills that span the subject areas covered by the Activity; and in-depth experience in operations, grant management, M&E, and previous USAID experience.<br><br><strong>The position is based at the EnCompass office in Jordan. <br><br></strong>Position Duties and Responsibilities<br><br><strong><u>Essential Functions<br></u></strong><ul><li>As a member of the leadership team, working closely with the Chief of Party to provide technical and managerial oversight for the Activity, including the development and implementation of the Activity’s annual work plans, quarterly and annual reports, and other requests that may come in from USAID.</li><li>Work closely with the team to ensure that the Activity consistently employs the EnCompass approach and culture and ensures the highest ethical standards, emphasizes the importance of communication and teamwork, adheres to USAID technical guidance, and directly contributes to the attainment of the Activity’s contractual deliverables through oversight of MEL team;</li><li>Manage the MEL and communication reporting and documentation for a periodic follow-up of the implementation of all Component-led interventions.</li><li>Operationalization of technical work. This includes closely collaborating with the COP to understand technical needs and working to put them in action with support from Component Leads including: grantmaking, STTA SoWs, supporting the recruitment and selection of STTA consultants, scheduling and mobilization, field implementation, and final acceptance of the work completed;</li><li>Drafting, editing, and making material contributions to Activity documents, including but not limited to bi-weekly reports, quarterly and PowerPoint presentations, annual reports, studies, papers, survey instruments, and other operational and MEL-related documentation;</li><li>Maintaining rigorous focus on the achievement of the Activity’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and on the Activity’s indicators, results, and supporting the M&E and communications functions.</li><li>Managing the Activity’s operational mobilization of grants and agreements.</li><li>Managing the implementation and coordination of all events, technical forums, conferences, and roundtables</li><li>Effectively backstopping and supporting long- and short-term consultants;</li><li>Representing the Activity in meetings with the private and public sector stakeholders as requested by the COP;</li><li>Organized regular staff meetings and check-ins</li><li>Facilitate knowledge management across the Makanati team.</li><li>Other duties as assigned on an ad hoc basis by the COP.<br></li></ul><strong><u>Qualifications<br><br></u></strong><strong>Position Requirements<br><br></strong><strong><u>Academic Qualifications<br></u></strong><ul><li>Master’s degree, or higher, in economics, business administration, public administration, or a<br></li></ul>related field<br><br><strong><u>Experience And Skills<br></u></strong><ul><li>Seven (7) years of relevant, progressively responsible management and familiarity with USAID funded or similar internationally funded contracts or projects is strongly preferred;</li><li>Strong experience in project/program management and experience in using relevant tools</li><li>Experience of managing grants as part of activity implementation</li><li>A combination of technical familiarity and management skills that span the subject areas covered by the Activity; and in-depth experience in operations, grant management and M&E.</li><li>Effectively backstopping and supporting long- and short-term consultants;</li><li>Ensuring efficiency, knowledge and experience across a wide variety of project activities involving economic growth, private sector development, women and youth empowerment, upskilling, business linkages, and job creation; and</li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills in English is required, Arabic language skills are preferred.<br></li></ul>How to Apply<br><br>Please submit CV and cover letter, and complete the application on the Careers & Consulting page<br><br><em>EnCompass LLC is a progressive Equal Opportunity Employer.
