<p><strong>JOB PURPOSE</strong></p><p>The role is to bridge the gap between design and technical implementation, ensuring that design concepts are transformed into practical and functional solutions. The Technical Design Manager expertise in both design principles and technical knowledge will be essential in driving successful design outcomes.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>JOB ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p><ul><li>As a Technical Design Manager, your role involves overseeing and managing the technical aspects of design projects. You will be responsible for leading a team of technical designers/draughtsman and collaborating with other stakeholders, such as engineers, architects, and project managers, to ensure the successful execution of projects. Your main focus will be on the technical feasibility, functionality, and performance of the designs.</li><li>Preparing drawings schedules, door schedules, and hardware schedules that will allow the coordination of the design process from initial concept design to on-site fitting. </li><li>Liaising with the Project Manager and all other relevant Departments in regard to all design and engineering scheduling. Work closely with the assigned Quantity Surveyors for specific projects. </li><li>Supervising the production of prototypes and site work. </li><li>Liaising with clients, consultants, and various internal departments, and attending production design meetings. </li><li>Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, sketches, or specifications to the team, so that they may be drawn, fabricated, constructed, assembled, and modified so as to be fit for purpose. </li><li>Preparing and organizing a detailed catalog at the commencement of the project. </li><li>Preparing and executing ‘As Built’ drawings at the completion of the project, proactively. </li><li>Compiling the O & M manual, prior to completion of the project. </li><li>Coordinating the flow of information between subcontractors. </li><li>Supervising a team of CAD draughtsmen, Team Leaders, and Coordinators, allocation of workload, and ensuring team deliverables are met within required timeframes. </li><li>Consistently keep abreast of market trends and construction methods. </li><li>Ensuring company policy and procedures are maintained and implemented, whilst continuously seeking ways to improve, refine and modify procedures. </li><li>Possessing a deep understanding of technical principles, design standards, and industry best practices. Providing guidance and support to the design team in solving complex technical challenges and ensuring designs meet specifications and requirements. </li><li>Conducting thorough technical design reviews to assess technical feasibility, identify potential risks, and propose appropriate solutions. Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate design alternatives, considering factors such as cost, scalability, usability, and performance.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p><p>Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as design, engineering, or architecture. </p><p><br></p><p><strong>EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS</strong></p><ul><li>Familiarity with design software and tools, such as CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software, Revit, BIM, and Sketchup. </li><li>Proficiency in project management methodologies and practices, including planning, organizing, and managing resources and timelines. PMP (Project Management Professional) can be advantageous. </li><li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, clients, and contractors. The ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders is essential. </li><li>A keen eye for detail to ensure technical accuracy, compliance with standards, and quality assurance in design projects. </li><li>The ability to adapt to changing priorities, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and work in a fast-paced environment.</li></ul>
