Job Description

JOB OVERVIEW The OB GYN consultant will provide professional Obstetrical and Gynecological medical and surgical services for patients. He/she will supervise and coordinate obstetric/gynecologic services provided for patients. He/she will supervise and evaluate medical and nursing staff of OB/GYN Department, and perform medically related and administrative duties as required. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical Responsibilities <ul><li>Provides required patient care and management in the field of Gynecology/Gynecologic Oncology in accordance with standards of medical care laid down by the hospital.</li><li>Provides consultation and comprehensive management of patients with gynecologic cancer including ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, endometrial cancer, cervical cancer and vulvar cancer.</li><li>Provides comprehensive, multi-disciplinary care, administers chemotherapy and provides an outstanding degree of continuity of care for patients.</li><li>Provides important supportive services such as management of medical or surgical complications from treatment, complications of the cancer, and hospice referral.</li><li>Provides treatment for complicated general gynecological conditions.</li></ul> Administrative Responsibilities <ul><li>Undertakes the administrative duties assigned by Head of Section or Chairman of the department.</li><li>Participates in all mandatory departmental activities and serves on departmental and hospital committees, as required.</li><li>Assists the department in the development and implementation of techniques and practices that help maximize the utilization of all resources within the department and across the hospital.</li><li>Abides by the current hospital and medical staff bylaws, all relevant rules, regulations and policies and keeps updated of any changes that might occur.</li><li>Performs any other related duties, as assigned.</li></ul> Research Responsibilities <ul><li>Promotes medical research initiatives in the Department in compliance with the guidelines of the Research Advisory Council.</li></ul> Education Responsibilities <ul><li>Promotes the provision of Postgraduate Training Programs. Continuing Medical Education activities and other required educational and training courses; and ensures the availability of mechanisms for evaluating and reporting such activities.</li><li>Promotes the mentoring and training of junior staff, trainees and medical students by Staff</li><li>Participates in self and others’ education, training and development, as applicable.</li><li>Performs other related duties, responsibilities, and assignments as required.</li><li>Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.</li></ul> QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED <ul><li>Graduation from an accredited medical school, completion of required education period of training in specialty and/or subspecialty</li><li>North American Board, UK Board, Europe Board, or Australian Board Certification</li><li>Valid BLS</li><li>Saudi Commission for Health Specialties registration card preferred</li><li>Seven (7) Years of training in specialty or subspecialty plus postgraduate training experience must be equal to or exceed seven (7) years’ experience in the subspecialty.</li></ul>
