SPEECH THERAPIST<br><br>*Education/Qualification*<br>- Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Hearing or Speech Language Pathology<br>- Master’s Degree in Speech and Hearing or Speech Language Pathology<br><br>*Required Experience*<br>- Minimum of 2 years post graduate experience as Speech Therapist<br><br>*Skills/Competencies*<br>- Fluent in oral and written English. Knowledge in Arabic language is an advantage<br>- Analytical skills for selecting the best diagnostic tools and analyzing results to identify an accurate diagnosis while developing an effective treatment plan.<br>- Communication skills for communicating diagnoses, test results and available treatments in terms that clients and their families can understand.<br>- Compassion when working with individuals frustrated by the difficulties they are experiencing.<br>- Critical thinking skills for adjusting treatment plans as required and identifying alternative ways to help.<br>- Attention to detail for maintaining notes on treatment and progress.<br>- Listening skills for listening to concerns and symptoms of clients so they can decide the most appropriate course of treatment. <br><br>*Required Licensure*<br>- DOH Licensed<br>- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification<br><br>*Job Summary*<br>- Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.<br>- Treat speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.<br>- Provide training and education to family/caregivers and other professionals.<br>- Work collaboratively with professionals from many other disciplines.<br>- Provide aural rehabilitation for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.<br>- Provide augmentative and alternative communication systems for individuals with severe expressive and/or language comprehension disorders, such as autism spectrum disorder or progressive neurological disorders.<br>- Work with people who don’t have speech, language, or swallowing disorders, but want to learn how to communicate more effectively.<br>- Engage in research to enhance knowledge about human communication processes and develop new assessment and treatment methods that may lead to more effective outcomes.<br>- Provide counseling and consultative services.
