Research in these sectors is enhanced by our research platforms of Robotics, AI and Data Science, Information and Communication Technologies, and Advanced Materials and Manufacturing as well as Fundamental Sciences.<br><br>Position Overview<br>KU is seeking a highly motivated Post-doctoral Fellow to work on a funded project to investigate archeological sites in the UAE using geophysical techniques such as GPR, ERT, MASW, gravity and magnetic.<br>The project will design, acquire, process and interpret geophysical survey data that can be used to detect buried archaeological objectives in the UAE. The outcomes of the field surveys will serve to validate the results obtained from satellite imagery.<br><br>As part of the project, the researcher will have access to state-of-the-art research equipment and facilities at the Earth Sciences department ( https://www.ku.ac.ae/academics/college-of-arts-and-sciences/department/department-of-earth-sciences#about) and will get an opportunity to work alongside researchers and graduate students from various backgrounds as part of a wider team.<br><br><br>Position Requirements<br>- Design, acquire, process and interpret geophysical surveys ( Electrical Resistivity Tomography, Control-Source Electromagnetic, Ground-Penetrated Radar, Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves, Gravity and Magnetic mapping, Near-surface seismic reflection and refraction) to detect buried archeological objects.<br>- Perform 3D inversions of geophysical data to identify archaeological features.<br>- Conduct other research related to applicant’s background.
