About the position:

As a Product Developer (PD) you will be given the responsibility to assure that Scandinavian Design Hub (SDH) delivers the best furniture assortment on the market, with the highest quality, the right design and at the correct cost. At the end of the developing process the PD ensures that the product is ready for the Scandinavian market with all necessary basic data and information.

The PD is a part of SDH where all the mood boards for the Scandinavian style look and feel is made, key elements for the upcoming season is set and trend monitoring is happening. The PD will be working in team with the Head of Trends & Design and the PD for interiors and décor to make sure the furniture and interior collections are conceptually connected and pulled together as a whole.

PD will be reporting to Head of Trends and Design and CEO.

Main responsibilities:

• Responsible for furniture development for the Scandinavian market.
• Responsible for furniture development such as living -, dining-, and bedroom furniture.
• Responsible for products meeting our high-quality level and approval of samples inclusive of prototypes, size sets and pre-production samples. This will be done partly by visiting factories (Asia and Europe) to secure they are aligned with our requirements.
• Work in a team with others in SDH to develop the best products and collections.
• Ensure best construction for use, fit, durability and appearance.
• Work with input on product construction, look and feel between the manufacturers and SDH
• Responsible for explaining and implementing new looks and feel, which are developed within SDH, to our manufacturing partners/furniture fabrics.
• Negotiate prices with manufacturers (and suppliers ) based on current market situation and industry statistics, with the support from SDH and our customers input analysis.

• Experience from the furniture industry
• Understand style trends, look and feel in the Nordic market.

• You are able to travel for work when necessary (EU/Asia)

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years relevant experience with product development of furniture products.
• Knowledge of furniture materials and their qualities, advantages and disadvantages.
• Experience with price negotiation and international trade
• Methodical, structured, and analytical in your approach, combined with a flexible and commercial mindset.
• Good English skills, both oral and written
• A portfolio of relevant suppliers is an advantage.
