Job Summary
The Business Development Director determines the long-term strategic objectives of the Business Development Department (BDD) in conjunction with the short and long term objectives of the organization. Ensures business growth through directing and managing business development activities to strategize approaches, technical pre-qualifications and quotations for the competitive tender projects.
Job Responsibilities 1
Provides strategic direction by developing goals and objectives, defining performance metrics, conducting evaluative tracking, monitoring progress, and reporting on results.
Manages staff and support the development of program goals and objectives, defining performance metrics, monitoring progress, reporting on results and analyzing capacity building.
Leads and directs efforts to increase the organization’s visibility and name recognition.
Develops and implements effective marketing and communications plans.
Strategic Business Development and market analysis
Responsible for the overall management of all strategic and operational tendering activities.
Prepares business development plans (and updates) to support strategies and objectives; this includes identifying construction market trends in Qatar and abroad, and then recommends short and long range plans, including segment penetration strategies for which organization project should pursue.
Appropriates actions include providing advice on delivery systems, liaison for pre-construction services, advance planning, estimates and schedules.
Relationship development and market targets

Meets with clients and Joint Venture Partners to develop a strong business relationship.
Evaluates and qualifies prospective clients and tenders to determine the go, no go decision of the organization tender.
Develops client lists, prospects and leads in focus markets, develop and maintain appropriate client contacts to build a professional and ethical business relationship leading towards the sale of organization services.
Leads and participates in the development of proposals, presentations, and submittal materials.
Direction and support to the Business Development Department and Estimation Team to enhance bid opportunities.
Directs and supports the BDD Bid Proposal Manager to create and supervise the submission of high standard level of pre-qualifications, tenders and reports.
Understands and utilizes organization for programme management, preconstruction, cost engineering capabilities, Green initiatives, BIM, and other services.

Job Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge/experience of working in a commercial environment experience of networking to increase business opportunitiesExperience of working within a target driven businessKnowledge of the principles and practices of management and economic development proceduresKnowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Excel and Outlook
ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.
