Job Summary
To maintain proper inventory control of the pharmacy department and to ensure that all medications and other pharmacy items are stored in a secure and proper place.
Job Responsibilities 1
Encourages teamwork by showing initiative, being knowledgeable in all aspects of the daily running inventory functions.
Pro-active in the management of out-of-stock or incomplete deliveries of items and reports such problems to the Pharmacy Manager.
Responsible for setting and implementing an Exposure Control Plan to improve resilience to hazardous materials incidents.
Takes initiative in keeping storage areas neat and keeping an updated list of items stored in locations other than pharmacy.
Assigns and arranges medication locations according to best distribution and maintains the storage efficiently.
Coordinates with technicians for packaging requirements unit dose preparations.
Generates floor stock replenishment lists for all nursing units.
Generates Purchase requisitions based on shortage items and coordinates with the pharmacy purchasing officer for ordering required medications.
Job Responsibilities 2
Contacts relevant IT support personnel when IT problems are encountered.
Reports wrong deliveries and pending deliveries to the pharmacy manager, pharmacy procurement officer and supply chain manager.
Shows responsibility by entering GRN’s as soon as stock with invoice is delivered to ensure charging can be done.
Prioritizes daily duties to ensure urgent orders and/or stock-related issues are entered/resolved in a timely fashion.
Extracts excel reports and manipulates excel functions efficiently.
Coordinates expiry date checking with pharmacy staff according to departmental policies.
Ensures that all medications are properly barcoded.
Implements protocols and procedures for receiving stock and handling returned or expired stock or exchange for handling (‘stock swap’).

• ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.
Job Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience as an inventory clerk, preferably in a hospital setting
Minimum 2 years of experience in the field of maintaining stock levels, issuing LPO’s, inventory control, etc.
Exposure to pharmacy supply chain and pharmaceuticals is preferable.
