Job purpose :

  • Prepares, delivers and maintains the report and provide support to project team

Reporting lines and interactions:

Hierarchically: Reports to Head of Instrument Department

Operationally: Reports to Head of Project Manager

Profile Must Have :

  • Minimum 16 to 19 years of relevant experience required.
  • Professional Engineer / Membership of relevant professional institution
  • Review comments of Instrument documents- Instrument data sheets and specification, Instrument index, System Input/output list, Level sketches, Alarm & Trip Schedule.
  • Review comments of Instrument documents- Instrument data sheets and specification, Instrument index, System Input/output list, Level sketches, Alarm & Trip Schedule.
  • Preparation of Instrument documents- Control and Safety system specification, Control and Safety System modification scope of work, Instrument Design basis, Instrument Specification for Package equipment, Cause & Effect Diagram, Functional Logic Diagram, Control narrative.
  • Review and checking of Instrument Drawings-Instrument cable block diagram, Cable schedule, Instrument Location layout drawing, Control room Layout drawing, Instrument wiring diagram, Loop Diagram, Instrument Hook-up Diagram, MCT drawing, Cable routing and trench layout drawings, Bill of Materials, Instrument Earthing Diagram, System Architecture diagram.
  • Inputs to deliverables by various other departments- Input to Material requisition for equipment, Input to P&ID, Input to Control room layout, Input to Cable Trench layout, Input to offshore oil production platform layouts, Input to offshore platform structural weight control report, Input to electrical power consumption list for Instrumentation, Input to air consumption and utility report, Input to project design basis memorandum, Input to control and shutdown philosophy, Input to Fire & Gas Philosophy, Input to HVAC control philosophy.
  • Inter-discipline review of deliverables from other departments-P&ID, Plot plan, Piping GA drawings, Equipment layouts, Electrical single line diagrams, HVAC duct layouts, Hazardous area classification drawings, F&G Layout drawings, F&G C&E Diagram.
  • Material Requisition and Technical Bid Evaluation for Instrument and Systems.
  • Vendor drawing review for instruments, Instrument packages (Metering skid), equipment (tanks, pumps) and equipment packages (Compressors, Chemical injection skids, HVAC).
  • Input to Package equipment specification, input to MR, input to Technical bid evaluation, Vendor drawing review of package equipment.
  • Data retrieval, onshore & offshore Site surveys & reports generation.
  • Review of P&ID for process control, Material selection as per piping specification.
  • Participation to risk reviews like Hazop and SIL. SIL verification calculation and validation.
  • Instrument sizing Calculation.
  • Proposal activities-Review of project scope, Technical clarification, prepare list of activities and deliverables required, estimation of man-hours, preparation of method statement, Scope split matrix with EPIC Contractor, Scope of work for Third party services.
  • Response to Site technical queries, Site commissioning Support.
  • Review of ITB documents.
  • Review of Contract documents

Main Accountabilities:

  • Assisting the project manager/Engineer in the preparation & implementation of the Project Quality Plan.
  • Reviewing other project procedures and ensuring their effective implementation.
  • Assessing the Quality System of the subcontractors & vendors, as required.
  • Carrying out project Quality audits, Quality Surveillances and reviews as scheduled in the Project Quality plan (where applicable).
  • Participate in project quality reviews.
  • Liaise and coordinate with the client QA department for project Quality matters.
  • Reports functionally to the Head of Discipline and operationally to the Project Manager and is responsible for
  • To lead a team of Engineers and designers for the assigned project. To lead Multiple projects
  • Quality assurance- To follow Company’s quality procedures to ensure the required quality of the deliverables
  • Cost optimization- Monitor and control the engineering cost, procurement cost and installation related cost during engineering.
  • Schedule compliance- To continuously monitor, plan adhere to the project schedule
  • Review of contract documents and raise technical queries to resolve conflicts.
  • Prepare Discipline schedule and review of project schedule
  • Prepare the Deliverables list and review of Master Document register.
  • Weekly input to Document Control Register to update the progress on time.
  • Regular liaison with Client in order to minimize the review cycle and to expedite the approval process.
  • Plan and execute the design work in required quality to meet the project schedule and cost.
  • Input to weekly progress reports and maintains manhour log.
  • Maintain Quality records and participate in quality audits
  • Performance of a specific task on a project or proposal as defined by Head of Discipline.
  • Management, maintenance and control of documents and data required for the smooth execution of the work.
  • Definition of tasks and supervision of personnel such as Senior Engineers, Engineers, Senior designers and draftsmen assigned to the team, including checking of documents and drawings produced.
  • Checking and commenting on drawings and documents issued by other disciplines as well as Vendor drawings wherever applicable within the schedule and to minimize the review cycle.
  • Provide technical expertise and support during various phases of the project design and execution
  • Demonstrates experience and expertise with various engineering deliverables and procurement engineering and is aware of commercial, contractual and administrative aspects of the discipline scope of work.
  • Reporting main developments and results of tasks performed to HOD (including items leading to ICR-Internal Change Requests).
  • Update, retrieval and maintenance of design inputs for engineering improvement.
  • Co-ordination within and with other disciplines.
  • Participation in meeting with Client, Vendors, Subcontractors etc.

  • Facing the technical challenges and proposing technical solutions on time
  • Review of OTB documents and prepare proposal documents in order to get maximum order intake
  • Comply with company policies
  • Carrying out required technical training to the new comers and develop junior engineers
  • Scrutinizing new engineer candidates resume and conduct interviews to enhance the team
  • Maintain lessons learned records and share to the team
  • Prepare discipline close-out reports for the project.
  • Contribute to the development of department working procedures
  • Set yearly objectives and to carryout self-performance evaluation
  • Carry out performance evaluation for the team
  • Assists in planning and management of department /team objectives, budgets and resource requirements
  • Promotes innovation, departmental improvements and team working for continuous improvement of knowledge base, cost-consciousness and Quality and Safety procedures
  • Ensure and facilitates an awareness of HSSE in all design and activities across the discipline.
  • Promotes Quality control throughout their team ensuring that their team works within the Quality Management System and participates in regular quality audits
  • Analyses exposure to risk and quantifies the potential for losses, applying logical solutions for managing the risk taken through the composition and implementation of contingency plans.
  • To serve as Technical authority or as Subject matter expert.
  • Feasibility study, FEED, Basic Engineering and Detailed Engineering with Reputed International detailed Engineering contractor
  • Oil & Gas projects, Offshore and onshore
  • Experience on Brownfield and Green Field Oil & Gas projects
  • On Shore instrumentation- Design and selection of Flow, Pressure, Level, Temperature measuring elements, Transmitters, Control valve, ESD Valve, Partial stroking system, Blowdown valves, MOV, Tank gauging system, PRV, PCV, Foundation Fieldbus, Serial Communication, Fiber optic communication, F&G Instruments, Bulk Materials
  • Selection of Instruments for Hazardous area application, Instrument signal grouping
  • Offshore special instrumentation- WHCP, ICSS, RTU, SCADA, DHG, MPFM, Hydraulic Power Unit, Choke valve, Sub-sea Umbilical cable
  • Instrument Packages-Analyser, Metering skid, Burner Management System, Leak Detection system
  • Control and Safety Systems (DCS, ESD/SIS, F&G), Machine monitoring system, HIPPS, FACP, HSSD, LCP, IRP, RTU, SCADA, BMS, LDS
  • Control narrative, Design Basis, Study of existing systems and recommendation for upgrade
  • International standards applicable for Instrumentation like AGA, API, ASME, ASTM, BS, IEC, IEEE, ISA, ISO, NACE, NFPA
  • Familiarisation with Client standards-SHELL DEP, QatarEnergy, TotalEnergies, NOC (North Oil Company), QATARGAS
  • Detailed engineering experience with MNC’s
