<strong>Transform the way the world runs networks</strong><p> <br></p><strong>The Opportunity</strong><p>As a VAS Network Operations Engineer, you’ll be performing daily data center operations based activities at one of Sandvine’s key accounts. You’ll use your excellent attention to detail and investigative skills to monitor, identify and lead to resolution potential issues on a high availability production environment. Issues that are outside of your knowledge domain will be brought up to Sandvine’s customer support for further investigation while you play a key role in communicating status updates to the customer and scheduling further investigation activities as require until resolution.<br></p><strong>The Job</strong><ul><li>Work with Customer Network Operations for deployment, maintenance, administration and operational tasks.</li><li>Diagnose Sandvine equipment failures.</li><li>Recommend configuration changes and assist with implementations</li><li>General services as required including installation of software maintenance updates for all Sandvine devices and solutions</li><li>Proactive health monitoring of software/hardware issues, Daily monitoring of system health, critical metrics, logs, alarms with an exigency when issues arise</li><li>Work within customers change request and maintenance window guidelines</li><li>Analyze & solve critical Applications traffic and detect problems through the use of essential software tools (traffic sniffers, simulators, traffic detection, MRTG, PRTG, SNMP polling, logs)</li><li>Lead the analysis/discussion with other departments in order to solve and prevent issues</li><li>Submitting and customer concern issues into L2 support as needed</li><li>Accountability for Case management and ensuring that they are resolved</li><li>Providing consultative support and mentor other less experienced team members</li><li>Positive contribution towards quality reviews for other colleagues and peers</li></ul><strong>What skills you bring:</strong><ul><li>3+ years applicable experience</li><li>Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other STEM program; alternative educational programs may be accepted at the discretion of the department VP preferred. Education may be substituted for comparable relevant work experience</li><li>Experience working with Unix based operating systems such as Linux, FreeBSD etc.</li><li>Hands-on experience with the installation, configuration, and/or operation of network equipment such as Cisco, Juniper or other network hardware manufacturers</li><li>Expertise in virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM), deployment of Openstack and automation tools like Ansible</li><li>Familiar with cloud architecture (AWS, Google cloud, AWS,…), containers and orchestration concepts (kubernetes, swarm) and tools like Docker,Jenkins,…</li><li>Proven Experience in virtual concepts like: NUMA, SRIOV, PCI-Passthrough,Virtio</li><li>Good understanding of NFV particularly around MANO/ONAMP</li><li>Excellent technical background with a strong understanding of networking (specifically IP related technologies)</li><li>Experience in Quality Assurance testing</li><li>Excellent understanding of end-to-end network call flows, as well as relevant technologies & protocols (DNS, HTTP, HTTPS, DHCP, RADIUS, DIAMETER, GRE, SIP, RTP, MGCP, H.323,RTCP)</li><li>Good understanding of billing and charging concepts and experience with Online Charging and Policy Enforcement (OCS, PCRF, PCEF)</li><li>Good experience in Data communication industry with different operator networks for Wireline (Cable, DSL, FTTH) and/or Wireless (Satellite, Wi-Fi, LTE, GPRS-3G, CDMA-3G, WiMAX, GSM, UMTS,4G and 5G)</li><li>Good background of packet level debugging using Wireshark, tcpdump, tcpreplay or similar tools</li><li>Ability to handle challenges and set priorities in a complex environment</li></ul><strong>Additional Knowledge and Skills</strong><ul><li>Experience with programming or scripting languages such as Java, C/C++, python, Perl etc</li><li>Experience with web technologies (Javascript, HTML5, HTTP, Angular, …)</li><li>Exposure to and understanding of web application concepts like P2P, VoIP, WAP, MMS, RTSP</li><li>Knowledge of industry models and standard methodologies (eg. Scrum, ITIL etc)</li><li>Experience with the latest web applications using Ajax and REST API’s will be advantageous</li><li>Experience of data modelling, DB administration, Vertica, SQL/PostgreSQL, ETL and/or BI in general (microstrategy, tableau, elastic search, kibana, grafana)</li><li>Experience with SQL databases, network traffic monitoring, or firewall technologies – especially in a Telecom, ISP, or Cable Internet environment</li></ul><strong>About Sandvine</strong><p>Sandvine, the App QoE company, helps network service providers deliver highest quality experience to consumers and enterprises.
