Classification: Department Leadership<br><br>Reports to: Assistant Vice President for Campus Safety & Facilities<br><br>Job Purpose: As the Cybersecurity Unit Manager, the incumbent reports to the Assistant Vice President for Campus Safety & Facilities, responsible for safeguarding the university’s digital assets and infrastructure against cyber threats and leading detailed cybersecurity investigations and operations.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br><ul><li> Developing and implementing comprehensive cybersecurity strategies and policies to protect the university’s digital assets and infrastructure. </li><li> Overseeing the design, implementation, and operation of cybersecurity technologies and systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and antivirus software. </li><li> Conducting regular risk assessments and vulnerability testing to identify potential threats and develop appropriate mitigation strategies. </li><li> Developing and delivering cybersecurity awareness training programs to faculty, staff, and students to promote good cybersecurity practices. </li><li> Maintaining and updating incident response plans and procedures to ensure prompt and effective response to cybersecurity incidents. </li><li> Coordinating with other departments, including IT, legal, and human resources, to ensure a consistent and cohesive approach to cybersecurity across the university. </li><li> Staying up to date with emerging cybersecurity threats, technologies, and trends and evaluating their potential impact on the university. </li><li> Managing cybersecurity budget, resources, and personnel effectively. </li><li> Producing detailed investigation reports and case files following cybersecurity related incidents and observed threats. </li><li> Reporting regularly to the Assistant Vice President for Campus Safety & Facilities and other stakeholders on the university’s cybersecurity posture and activities. <br></li></ul>Skills:<br><ul><li> Comprehensive knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, antivirus software, encryption, and security information and event management (SIEM) tools. </li><li> Ability to conduct risk assessments and vulnerability testing and develop appropriate mitigation strategies. </li><li> Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and respond to cybersecurity incidents effectively. </li><li> Strong communication skills to deliver cybersecurity awareness training and interact with stakeholders across the university. </li><li> Ability to work collaboratively and coordinate with other departments, including IT, legal, and human resources, to ensure a consistent and cohesive approach to cybersecurity. </li><li> Familiarity with incident response plans and procedures to ensure a prompt and effective response to cybersecurity incidents. </li><li> Excellent project management skills to manage cybersecurity initiatives, budgets, and personnel effectively. </li><li> Ability to stay up to date with emerging cybersecurity threats, technologies, and trends and evaluate their potential impact on the university. </li><li> Experience with managing a cybersecurity team, conducting performance evaluations, and providing feedback and coaching to team members. <br></li></ul>Experience and Education :<br><ul><li> Masterβs degree in computer science , Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field. </li><li> Several years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, or IT security roles, with a proven track record of success in developing and implementing effective cybersecurity strategies and programs. </li><li> Relevant certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or CompTIA </li><li> Experience with cybersecurity risk management, threat intelligence, and incident response. </li><li> Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in managing and mentoring cybersecurity professionals. </li><li> Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. </li><li> Familiarity with cybersecurity technologies and tools, such as firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, antivirus software, SIEM, and penetration testing tools.</li></ul>
