Job Summary

A Design Coordinator plans and oversees the aesthetic elements of a project. To determine project requirements, develop design concepts, prepare cost estimates, source materials, review progress, and consult with clients every step of the way.

Job Responsibilities 1

Manages the construction/design deliverables in accordance with construction requirements and Client’s expectations.

Develops the design concept on time based on the project brief and project value.

Manages the production of the time schedule prepared by the planning engineer.

Manages the process of RFP, review and award for the technical and commercial offers of consultancy service, and appointing of consultants on time.

Ensures to obtain the project brief (client requirements, purpose of project) on time.

Ensures to obtain information about the value of the project and to manage the feasibility study of the project to ensure the project purpose & Benefit.

Ensures to manage the environmental study of the project and the mitigation plan where required.

Ensures to develop the design concept on time (through in house team or Consultants) based on the Project brief and project value.

Job Responsibilities 2

Ensures to review the design concepts and drawings for the Project and provide feedback, design suggestions and alternatives to assist in meeting UCC goals for the Project.

Ensures to obtain UCC senior management and client required approvals on time.

Ensures to manage the production of the time schedule prepared by the planning engineer.

Ensures to timely manage the process of RFP, review and award for the technical and commercial offers of consultancy service, and appointing of consultants.

Ensures to obtain the schematic design from the appointed consultant / AOR on time.

To obtain DC documents on time as per the time schedule.

Ensures to obtain Issued for construction DWGs on time from the AOR.

Ensures too establish the communication line with client, project management, lead consultant, ID consultant, specialty consultants, main contractor, commercial & estimation, supervising consultant and ensure it is strictly followed during the design development.

Additional Responsibilities 3

Ensures the quality of design documents and coordination of all disciplines.

Ensures that the design deliverables meets the Authorities requirements.

Ensures to manage the interior design process (RFP, bids review, appointing of ID, ID design deliverables).

Ensures to manage the coordination process between the ID and the AOR and ensure the deliverables are on time for each.

Ensures to obtain the required control samples form the ID and handover to the project technical manager along with ID deliverables.

Ensures to coordinate with procurement, estimation & the client to ensure that ID material are approved, technically accepted, available and value engineered within the budget.

Ensures that the deliverables of the specialty consultants are integrated in the lead consultant design deliverables with no conflict.

Job Knowledge & Skills

• Possess good communication skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (word, excel) and other related software.Experienced in CAD, Document Control and Planning Systems.Thorough knowledge of the design and construction methodologies.Member of a professional Association such as RIBA, AIA or etc.

• ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.
