Job Description

The Sustainability Manager is anticipated to effectively implement the Project Sustainability Management System and the relevant measures to comply with the Project Sustainability requirements (LEED, GHG Emission reduction, Net Zero, etc.), in coordination with the Project Stakeholders (Client, Consultant, Project Team, Subcontractors, Suppliers, etc.), documenting and reporting of the same to the relevant parties.

The Manager will report to the Technical Manager for Sustainability related matters and to the Project HSE Manager for Environmental Sustainability related matters.

Main Duties And Responsibilities Are

• Implement & monitor all the Project Sustainability requirements related processes/activities at the Project.
• Review & approve Material Submittals to ensure compliance with Project Sustainability requirements.
• Coordinate with the Client, Consultants, relevant project members/subcontractors to ensure full implementation, and Ensure Project complies with all the Project Sustainability requirements during Construction phase and achieve the targeted Sustainability rating.
• Gather, Compile and generate, if needed, all the Sustainability related documentations/data required during Construction stage, from all the parties involved, for the further Submissions to the Client or relevant authorities/certifying bodies.
• Generate regular Sustainability reports, as required by the Project Stakeholders.
• Conduct inspections/site walks to ensure compliance with the Project Sustainability requirements like CIAQ, Carbon reduction, Construction Waste Management, Soil & erosion Prevention, etc.
• Attend/lead Progress Meetings, Subcon Meetings, etc., as required for Project Sustainability aspects.
• Conduct Workshops/Trainings to the Project Team regularly, to keep all aware on Project Sustainability requirements.
• Develop Management/Implementation plans (Sustainability Management Plan, Waste Management Plan, GHG Emissions reduction plan, Sustainable supply chain plan, etc.) as required to implement Project Sustainability requirements and ensure implementation of the same.
• Sustainability Data collection at the Project for timely documentation and reporting.
• Implement an effective Waste Management System, ensuring that the Project meets the targeted waste diversion rate.
• Implement an effective GHG emission reduction management system, ensuring that the project meets the targeted carbon reduction rate.
• Guide the Operational team and HSE team for implementation of Environmental measures, monitoring of Environmental parameters specified in the Project CEMP.
• Have sound knowledge on identification, assessment, monitoring, and management of Carbon Emissions, Embodied Carbon in Materials, air emissions, water, and wastewater collection, treatment and disposal, energy consumption.
• Act as a Subject Matter expertise for Sustainability related matters and guide the Project team with value creation ideas, sustainable Solutions or approaches to comply with the Project Sustainability requirements.
• Coordinate Closely with Technical team, Procurement team and Operations team, to ensure that the materials being used, construction approach being devised align well with the Project Sustainability requirements.
• Work closely with the Project Environmental Manager and the HSE team, to assist as well as ensure that all the Environmental Sustainability related measures are implemented well in line with the Project Sustainability requirements.
• Keep up to date with industry developments, research, propose sustainable value creation ideas with business cases to the Project Management, Implement and evaluate its impacts.
• Develop casestudies, communication articles on Sustainability practices at the Project, for internal corporate reporting and external reporting, relevant.
• Assess materials in terms of its embodied carbon and assist procurement team in adhering with the Project Carbon reduction targets.

Qualifications

• Must have Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering, or Civil Engineering or Architectual of equivalent from a reputable university.
• Must have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in Sustainability field in GCC, and must have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in managing LEED Projects; and its documentation.
• LEED GA qualification is a must and any other Green qualifications ( CEEQUAL, LEED AP ) would be a plus.
• Must be proficient in implementing Sustainability related requirements ( LEED, Carbon reduction, Energy reduction, Water reduction, etc. ) in Construction operations.
• Must have knowledge about environmental management practices and environmental monitoring activities.
• Must have in depth knowledge on topics like GHG Emissions reduction, Embodied Carbon, Life Cycle Analysis, etc.
• Prior Experience in KSA is a plus.
• Fluent in English / Arabic is a plus;
• Must have good analytical skills and Reporting / presentation skills
• Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel & Power Point
