Senior Media Engineer

Job Description

Responsibilities & Activities:
• Monitor and analyze the quality of video delivery and enhance the video delivery based on the collected data.
• Plan, design, and evaluate video encoding algorithms, parameters, and streaming protocols used in MBC digital video library.
• Optimize video caching strategies to guarantee the best video delivery performance to the end user.
• Maintain security and DRM policy on our videos and enhance all aspects of video security.
• Automate encoding and video delivery workflows.
• Troubleshoot and solve any issues related to video delivery or video preparation for streaming.
• Keep up with emerging technologies, new products applications, and trends within the digital media industry.

Essential Skills & Experience:
• Minimum 6+ years experience in related field.
• Experience in DevOps (Preferably AWS), video streaming and encoding environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in a computer science or any related field.
• Knowledge of video streaming protocols and TCP/IP networks.
• Knowledge of caching, and caching optimization of different workloads.
• Knowledge of at least one programming or scripting language, preferably python.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Working experience with Scrum or similar agile methodologies.
• Proactive, creative problem-solving skills and able to work self-directed.
• Experience with AWS serverless architecture services.
• Working experience with high impact and critical systems.
• Experience in writing clean code in accordance with best practices.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.

Nice to have:
• Ability to work on a heterogeneous environment including Linux and Windows servers.
• Experience in CDN networks.
• Passion to learn new technologies relayed to Video and Media (Encoding, Compression,
Video Codec, DRM/Security).
