University of Doha for Science and Technology – Experiential Learning and Certification Specialist – Profile:

The Applied and Experiential Learning (AEL) Unit invites applications for the position Experiential Learning and Certification Specialist. Reporting to the Academic Manager, Applied and Experiential Learning (AEL) the successful candidate will support faculty in instructional delivery by providing opportunities for professional development, conducting training workshops and providing individual mentoring to facilitate improved instructional delivery and enhanced learning outcomes in alignment with UDST’s strategy. This also includes: to manage, coordinate and deliver internationally recognized teacher training programs to instructors from all academic at UDST to increase the qualification, profile and skill levels of faculty.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will provide practical advice and support for faculty to facilitate improved instructional delivery by conducting group workshops and individual mentoring.

The successful candidate will recommend faculty members on best practices in teaching and experiential learning in a higher education environment into exemplary teaching practices.

The successful candidate will plan, design, coordinate and conduct professional growth activities such as Instructional Skills Workshops and Development Workshops to support faculty in developing effective and innovative teaching approaches. He/she will identify areas for professional growth and instructional development for faculty in line with the needs of their discipline.

The successful candidate will collaborate with Faculty Affairs and Colleges to plan, deliver and evaluate high quality orientation training to ensure new faculty understand UDST’s approach to experiential learning, and develop resources used in the delivery of workshops and other activities.

The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of internationally recognized teacher training programs to Instructors from all academic business units at UDST.

The successful candidate will co-ordinate on-site credit bearing courses, including logistical arrangements and arranging appropriately qualified facilitators. He/she will support faculty with online training courses, providing practical advice and a supportive environment to encourage reflective learning.

The successful candidate will liaise with Colleges to identify faculty suitable to attend teacher training programs in line with the needs of their business unit.

Other responsibilities include to maintain accurate records of professional development workshops and activities offered and develop a variety of self- access instructional support resources and materials for use by faculty.

Qualifications

Education and Certifications:

Master’s degree is required

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience out of which 2 in the education sector

Relevant Teaching And/or Education Certifications Are Required Are Preferred.

Language:

Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills

Bilingual in English and Arabic is preferable

Other Required Skills:

Highly detail-oriented individual with exemplary communication and interpersonal skills. Good experience in professional development and conducting training sessions. A proactive can-do attitude to work and good time management is essential. The candidate should have the ability to anticipate change and effectively manage quality and risk at all times. Knowledge of Pedagogy, Curriculum Planning and Teaching Technologies is required. A commitment to effective working relationships across all levels of the organizations is required. A commitment to ongoing training and continuous professional development is desirable.
