Job Description<br><br><strong>Role Purpose:<br><br></strong>The primary role of Global Internal Audit (GIA) is to help the Board and Executive Management to protect the assets, reputation and sustainability of the HSBC Group. GIA provides independent and objective assurance over the design and operating effectiveness of the Group’s framework of risk management, control and governance processes. GIA possesses specialized capabilities and skills through its versatile, inquisitive, and diverse team of global professionals.<br><br>GIA values the diversity of perspectives, knowledge and experiences and we encourage candidates from an array of disciplines and backgrounds. The Internal Auditor role holder will support the Global Internal Audit team with the administration, co-ordination and delivery of audits. The role holder will:<br><ul><li>Conducting and leading audits that are consistent with the nature and scope of the HBEG Audit Plan</li><li>Ensuring that audits complete efficiently and effectively with due regards to the risks, scope, nature and materiality of each in scope entity. </li><li>Leading and executing audits in accordance with Global Internal Audit Standards.</li><li> Maintain HSBC internal control standards, and the comprehensive discharge of Group audit activities.</li><li>Support in the execution, robust documentation and reporting of risk based Continuous Monitoring on the designated audit universe areas.</li><li>Prioritizing work and the delegation of assignments in accordance with and due regards to the nature of the business and the risks being incurred.</li><li>Ensuring that audit reporting properly highlights all material risks.</li><li>Clearly communicating issues and associated risks to colleagues, audit managers, and senior stakeholders.</li><li>Ensuring that the scope, approach and methodology of each audit is fully reflective of the importance of the Group’s focus on its customers and the quality of the operating environment necessary to support that focus.</li><li>Engage with and providing strategic advice to internal stakeholders by utilizing knowledge of the business and the governance, risk and regulatory frameworks</li><li>Manage the interface between internal and external stakeholders to ensure a common approach and understanding of key deliverables</li><li>Contribute to enhance the performance of the team and the Bank.</li><li>Build up and maintain good relations with colleagues.</li><li>Handle sensitive situations both objectively and delicately</li><li>Communicate effectively and efficiently with different levels in the organization as well as external parties like the regulators and external auditors who operate under different environments;</li><li>Ensure that a comprehensive evaluation of control systems, strengths and weaknesses of operations, key risk issues and products/processes is carried out within the context of providing a value added professional service to line management;</li><li>Provide value-added professional audit services to line management, by supporting business initiatives without compromising standards of risks & control. This entails making pragmatic recommendations to underpin the best practice approach by the business lines and customer services; and</li><li>Support business initiatives without compromising standards of internal control and convince business to accept recommendations and process/implement improvement initiatives made in audit reports.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Impact on the Business:<br></strong><ul><li>Expertise (i.e. demonstrates commercial awareness, understanding of products and services)</li><li>Effectively discuss potentially challenging matters and ability to communicate with impact and articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences</li><li>Keen willingness to learn and gain a solid understanding of the applicable Business, Functional, and Regulatory environment, including developing trends, risks, controls, and expectations.</li><li>Support a strong risk and conduct culture across the Group and promote awareness and sound operational and strategic decision-making.</li><li>Critically analyse and determine key drivers of change for area of coverage and assess how these will impact audits.</li><li>Use insights, industry knowledge and current developments to assess areas of concern.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Customers / Stakeholders:<br></strong><ul><li>Understand the roles and interests of the various business stakeholders as a basis for engaging them at the right level, on the right issues and in the appropriate context.</li><li>Engage stakeholders to obtain a deeper understanding of their business, its requirements and the implications for audit.</li><li>Build trust and credibility with stakeholders in order to objectively engage them and where appropriate challenge their views.</li><li>Demonstrate analytical thinking, sound judgement, critical analysis, attention to detail and provide value-added advice.</li><li>Present audit findings to audit management/stakeholders, evaluate the adequacy of their action plans and monitor its implementation.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Leadership<u> & </u><u>Teamwork:<br><ul><li>Interpersonal Skills (i.e. communication, collaboration, networking, and negotiation)</li><li>Committed Team lead that upholds and delivers allocated assignments and helps others as needed to achieve common objectives.</li><li>Effective communication and ability to maintain constructive relationships with stakeholders, team members, and GIA Management.</li><li>Actively promote collaboration and sharing of ideas across GIA.</li><li>Coherently articulate audit exceptions and findings to GIA team members and management, and as necessary to business and/or functional stakeholders</li><li>Effectively discuss potentially challenging matters and ability to communicate with impact and articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Operational Effectiveness<u> & </u><u>Control:<br><ul><li>Ensure that audit information requests submitted to management and staff are appropriate and relevant to the scope of the audit.</li><li>Ensure that audit work is executed in accordance with the management and oversight standards established within GIA as well as professional best practices.</li><li>Execute assignments that are consistent with the nature and scope of the business, its risks and the materiality of those risks.</li><li>Lead and Complete assignments efficiently and effectively with due regards to the risks, scope, nature and materiality of each business unit.</li><li>Prioritise work and the delegation of assignments in accordance with and due regards to the nature of the business and the risks being incurred.</li><li>Ensure that audit reporting properly highlights all material risks and these are presented to the appropriate levels of management.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Requirements<br><br></strong><strong>Qualifications:<br></strong><ul><li>7- 5 years’ relevant work experience in the Financial Services Sector and / or consultancy or external audit.</li><li>University degree and relevant professional qualification with prior banking experience </li><li>Relevant accounting, audit, analytical, financial, risk, or technology skills, qualifications or certifications.</li><li>Preference given to qualified Auditors CIA, CPA, CISA or a clear willingness to commit to obtaining a relevant certification.</li><li>Excellent quantitative, analytical, communication skills.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a team Lead /player who is highly professional.</li></ul></u></strong></u></strong>
