Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is looking for Cathodic Protection Engineer to be based in Basra on 4 weeks On/4 weeks off rotation.
- Focal point for leading cathodic protection related field testing and data collection of systems on pipelines and other facilities on the Rumaila field, comprising 14 degassing stations, 2 water treatment plants, 6 water injection pump stations and over 1000 pipelines and flowlines.
- Responsible for managing execution of the CP field survey program defined by the Integrity contractor
- Responsible for collecting and processing cathodic protection field data and testing results and maintaining the ROO Veracity master database.
- Managing CP related anomalies in the ROO Anomaly Management Process
- Mentor and coach local national Inspection department practitioners on the application of international inspection standards and best practice within ROO facilities.
Key Accountabilities:
- Management & execution of the CP site survey program, including managing the interfaces between key stakeholders (BOC, Integrity Contractor, Field CP contractor)
- Lead CP surveys and investigations including Soil Resistivity measurements, CIPS and DCVG Survey
- CP data analysis and reporting, and upload into master database (Veracity)
- Perform site investigations.
- Identify AC and/or DC interference and foreign influence issues.
- Gathering reports from inspection department
- Provide technical support to ROO departments in all matters related to cathodic protection.
- Review engineering designs, drawings and specifications for Cathodic Protection requirements and equipment
- Prepare method statements and procedures for installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and monitoring of CP systems
- Generate field sketches or update existing drawings with anodes, rectifiers, test stations and other design features to be included for final drafting.
- Ability to mentor and coach local national inspectors and technicians.
- Participate in the development of CP survey and maintenance job plans to maintain regulatory compliance.
- Be familiar with standard construction practices for corrosion control projects and systems.
- Technical knowledge of equipment and deliverables
- Be familiar with coating systems for external corrosion control.
Skills / Qualifications
Minimum educational / certification requirements:
- Relevant Engineering or industrial technology degree
- Current Certification with ICORR Level 2 or NACE 3
Minimum experience requirements:
- 10 Years industry experience in the corrosion control industry particularly related to Cathodic Protection.
- Working knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards
Desired Criteria:
- Postgraduate qualification in corrosion and materials.
- Previous experience of working in a multicultural environment.
- Previous experience of working in a major oil and gas environment
