Job Description
The Project Security Manager provides security management and quality assurance to all key stakeholders on this client contract in Basra. He is the primary interface between the client and the company. The Project Security Manager is responsible for overseeing the armed protection teams and local guard force on site and will ensure that operations are conducted in accordance with Iraqi government, client and Control Risks directives and policies.

Rotation: 6 weeks on / 6 off
Start Date: 07 September 2023*
*To include handover of 7 days and rotation starts 14 Sept 23.
Role tasks and responsibilities
- Coordinates all management functions of the project and ensures the scope of work is executed as per contract terms.
- Act as single point of contact for client, with full operational responsibility for the planning, preparation, implementation and oversight of security operations.
- Monitors local atmospherics and threat assessments, offering recommendations to mitigate security threat conditions likely to impact client movements or operations.
- Coordinate operational support to deployed assets, including the incorporation of threat analysis input prior to, and during, tasks as directed by client security team.
- Oversees the armed protection teams and local guard force to ensure the effective provision of security to the client in line with SOPs.
- Be responsible for and conduct regular (weekly) accounting inspections for all equipment, vehicles, weapons and ammunition.
- Liaise regularly with client security team to formulate policies, determine security needs and identify areas of deficiency and improvement.
- Review existing SOPs and procedures and, where appropriate, develop and exercise these under direction and guidance of client security team.
- Oversees training and mentoring to the armed protection teams and local guard force as specified by Control Risks and the client commensurate with the minimum standards required and exceeding them wherever possible.
- Responsible for the quality assurance of contracted security services. Regularly assesses the performance of employees, identifying any gaps in capability and areas of improvement.
- Stewards overall operational security and safety of the contract to match company security standards and HSE standards. Ensures all security incidents and accidents are investigated and reported in line with SOPs.
- At the direction of client, develop close links and relationships with local authorities, police, military and embassies.
- Participate in and coordinate the response to emergency security incidents.
- Provide weekly reports to regional management team and client.
- Ensures that employees comply with Control Risksโ / client policies such as Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Voluntary Principles on Human Rights, Rules for use of Force and Drugs and Alcohol policy. Identifies any non-compliance and conducts investigations with regional management team.
