<strong>Head Legal & Compliance, Middle East & Pakistan </strong><p><br></p>Alcon’s Middle East cluster is part of its Growth and Export Markets (“GEM”) which is composed of small and mid-sized markets (direct or distributor), covering 15 countries, including UAE and Saudi Arabia. Alcon representations in the cluster are located in Dubai, Riyadh and Jeddah.<p><br></p>As Head of Legal & Compliance, ME you are a member of the ME leadership team. You will be based in Dubai and support the ME business; trusted to work on all legal and compliance topics, but also adding value to the business on strategic, commercial and any other topic far beyond purely legal matters in the cluster. In this role, a typical workday includes:<p><br></p><ul><li>Partnering with the local leadership team and colleagues</li><li>Proactively providing, solution-oriented legal and strategic advice to the local business</li><li>Drafting and negotiating contracts (e. g. distributor agreements etc.) with distributors and suppliers</li><li>Corporate housekeeping, competition law and litigation</li><li>Establish, promote and reinforce compliance standards, aligned with local laws and regulations and company-wide compliance policies</li><li>Provide compliance advice, investigates complaints and verify deficiencies are corrected</li><li>Develop employee communication and training programs for a companywide compliance program</li><li>Maintaining current knowledge of laws for financial, advertising and marketing reporting, regulations, and industry guidance that impact the company’s compliance program</li></ul><p><br></p><strong>WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:</strong><p><br></p><ul><li>Education: University degree in Law, admission to the bar as a fully qualified lawyer with experience in Middle East markets</li><li>Experience in legal practice (> 7 years) – preferably significant experience in legal practice related to the pharmaceutical or medical device/medical technology industry</li><li>Proven ability to proactively provide insightful and timely legal support to stakeholders across a functionally and geographically dispersed organization</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; Arabic language skills can be a plus</li><li>Speak-up culture, persuasive negotiator with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders</li><li>Solid understanding of the medical device industry and customer needs</li><li>Team spirit is as important as strong leadership skills and the willingness to travel abroad</li><li>Ability to represent Alcon externally on integrity / compliance topics</li><li>Experience with an international environment, communicate with senior leaders with corporate responsibility and with balancing global standards and local cultures</li></ul><p><br></p><strong>HOW YOU CAN THRIVE AT ALCON:</strong><p><br></p>At Alcon, we are driven by the meaningful work we do to help people see brilliantly.
