Job Description

The Assistant/Associate Professor of Anatomy at American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB) plays a vital role in the academic development and delivery of Anatomy courses. This position is responsible for providing high-quality instruction to students, conducting research, and contributing to the overall growth and reputation of the various academic departments in the College of Healthcare Technologies at AUIB.

Strategic Objectives:
1. Delivering Engaging and Effective Instruction: The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a dynamic curriculum that fosters student engagement and learning in the field of Anatomy.
2. Research and Publication: The selected candidate is expected to actively participate in research activities, contribute to academic journals, and attend conferences to enhance the reputation of the department and the university.
3. Student Mentorship and Support: The selected candidate should provide guidance and support to students, helping them excel in their academic pursuits and career aspirations.
4. Collaborative Contributions: The selected candidate is encouraged to collaborate with other faculty members, research teams, and industry professionals to enhance interdisciplinary learning opportunities for students.
5. Academic Services: The selected candidate is encouraged to serve on institutional and College committees in order to enhance capacity strengthening and excellence.

1. Profound Knowledge of Anatomy: The successful candidate must possess an in-depth understanding of human anatomy and physiology, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to students.
2. Teaching and Presentation Skills: Strong teaching skills, including the ability to create engaging presentations, facilitate discussions, and promote active learning in the classroom.
3. Research Aptitude: Demonstrated capacity for conducting research, critical analysis of academic literature, and a potential for publishing research findings in reputable journals.
4. Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with students, colleagues, and industry professionals effectively.
5. Leadership and Teamwork: Willingness to work collaboratively with other faculty members and contribute to the overall academic leadership of the department.
Responsibilities:
1. Conducting Classes: Plan and deliver lectures, laboratory sessions, and tutorials for Anatomy and Physiology courses as per the approved curriculum.
2. Course Development: Continuously improve and update course materials, including syllabi, assignments, and assessments, to ensure relevance and alignment with industry standards.
3. Student Evaluation: Assess students’ progress through assignments, exams, and other evaluation methods while providing constructive feedback for their academic growth.
4. Academic Research: Engage in scholarly research activities, publish research findings, and present research at conferences to contribute to the field’s knowledge base.
5. Student Mentorship: Provide academic and career guidance to students, supporting their overall personal and professional development.
6. Departmental Participation: Collaborate with other faculty members, attend departmental meetings, and contribute to program development and enhancement initiatives.
