This position will report directly to the President.

Job Summary:

The Provost of the American University of Iraq – Baghdad (AUIB) is the Chief Operating Officer of the University and, as second officer of the university, reports directly to the President of the University and serves as the University Chief Executive Officer in the absence of the President. The role of the Provost at AUIB carries responsibility for ensuring the effectiveness of the day-to-day operation of the University. The Provost also supervises and collaborates with the Vice Presidents in attaining the strategic goals of the University.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides leadership in assessment and implementation of the strategic plan.
Establishes University-wide measures of institutional effectiveness and monitors progress relative to specific annual and long-term goals.
Facilitates global recognition of the University through both institutional and regional accreditation and international ranking.
Supports the development of national and international strategic partnerships.
Communicates results of institutional assessment to stakeholders, constituencies, and the public.
Allocates University resources and coordinates human resource and infrastructure developments in a manner consistent with the goals of the strategic plan as approved by the President and the Board of Trustees.
Ensures that the University fosters diversity and equity.
Supports an environment that celebrates excellence and promotes a positive atmosphere of achievement and pride for faculty, staff, and students,
Oversees and administers the space allocation process.
Promotes the development and modification of academic programs to meet the evolving mission of the University and aligns academic programs with the strategic plan of the University to meet the needs of the students, faculty, and the University community at large.
Works directly with the Faculty Senate to ensure effective communications with the Office of the President AUIB.
