Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented PowerSchool MIS/Application Specialist to join our team. The experienced PowerSchool MIS/Application Specialist will be responsible for managing and maintaining the PowerSchool student information system (SIS) and related databases. It would also include other 3rd Party applications that integrates with PowerSchool (PS Performance Matters, PS Private Enrolment, PS Special Programs, Schoology, Kickboard, MS Dynamics, CLEVER, Destiny, Microsoft 365 SDS etc). This individual will work closely with the Leadership, IT department, school administrators, teachers, and staff to ensure the effective and efficient use of PowerSchool and provide technical support and training as needed.
Responsibilities:
1. PowerSchool System Administration:
- Manage and maintain the PowerSchool SIS, including user accounts, security roles, and system configurations.
- Develop and implement data management procedures and protocols to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security.
- Customize and configure PowerSchool modules to meet the needs of the organization.
- Collaborate with IT staff to perform regular system updates, patches, and upgrades for purposes of ensuring the utilization of up-to-date technology applications.
- Term Setup, Calendar, Schedules, Grade setup, Photo imports, Attendance configuration etc.
- Assist with Private Enrolment/Performance matters/Special programs configuration and setup of the same.
- Ensuring Security of the PS system including compliance with Data Privacy Laws of the country
- Working closely with Leadership/Teachers for Timetable data loading, setting up the same including Rooms, courses, sections etc
- Perform EoY Processes
2. Data Management and Reporting:
- Ensure accuracy of data and troubleshoot problems with the database, including data validation errors.
- Design, develop, and generate reports, dashboards, and data extracts using PowerSchool and other reporting tools i.e PowerBi.
- Manage and prepare all academic reports, including progress reports, report cards, and regular academic progress updates.
3. Training and Support:
- Provide technical support to end-users, including administrators, teachers, and staff, regarding PowerSchool functionality and processes.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate staff on PowerSchool features, data entry, and reporting.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of training materials and documentation.
4. System Integration and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate PowerSchool with other systems and applications. This includes Schoology, Kickboard
- Work closely with IT and external vendors to troubleshoot and resolve integration issues.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest PowerSchool features, updates, and best practices.
Skills
Qualifications/Skillset:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in administering and supporting PowerSchool MIS is a must.
- Strong technical skills and understanding of Oracle/SQL databases, data management, and reporting tools. Knowledge of PowerBi is a must.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency in creating (.Net, ASP.Net, VB Net and C# Programming/coding applications) APIs, SQL, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. This is essential and required as majority of systems is custom built and requires timely integration and setup to ensure successful operations.

- Experience in training end-users and developing training materials is preferred.
- Knowledge of K-12 education systems and processes is a plus.
