Faithful+Gould are looking for a GIS Expert in Oman.

Job Purpose:
A GIS (Geographic Information System) Expert is responsible for overseeing the use of GIS technology and spatial data management in construction logistics operations. Their primary role is to manage and optimize the flow of resources, materials, and personnel to construction sites using GIS software and tools.
Functional Responsibilities:
1. GIS Management:
– Develop and implement GIS strategies, standards, and procedures for construction logistics operations.
– Manage and maintain spatial databases, ensuring accurate and up-to-date geospatial data.
– Design and create GIS maps, models, and visualizations to support construction logistics planning and decision-making.
– Provide technical expertise and support to project teams regarding GIS-related matters.
– Collaborate with other departments to integrate GIS data and analysis into construction management systems.
3. Resource and Material Management:
– Monitor and track the movement of construction resources, including equipment, materials, and personnel, using GIS technology.
– Optimize resource allocation based on project schedules, site conditions, and logistics requirements.
– Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and transportation providers to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
– Analyze data on resource utilization and efficiency, identifying opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
– Implement inventory management systems to track and manage construction materials and equipment at various project sites.
4. Data Analysis and Reporting:
– Collect, analyze, and interpret GIS data to generate reports, dashboards, and visualizations for construction logistics performance.
– Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to optimize logistics operations and improve overall efficiency.
– Prepare and present reports to project stakeholders, highlighting key findings and proposed solutions.
– Collaborate with project teams to develop construction logistics plans and budgets based on GIS analysis.
5. Collaboration:
– Foster collaboration with other departments, such as project management, procurement, and operations, to ensure seamless integration of GIS data and analysis.
– Collaborate with external consultants, contractors, and government agencies to obtain relevant geospatial data and insights.
– Stay updated on the latest GIS technology trends, tools, and methodologies, and assess their applicability to construction logistics operations.
GIS Expertise:

Proficiency in GIS software and tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, AutoCAD Map 3D, or similar platforms.

Experience in creating and managing geospatial databases, performing spatial analysis, and designing GIS maps and visualizations.

Knowledge of GIS data formats, standards, and coordinate systems.

Understanding of GPS technology and its integration with GIS systems.
Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geomatics, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

In-depth knowledge of GIS principles, spatial analysis, and data management.

10+ years of experience working on large scale green field infrastructure development projects.

Experience in preparing and presenting reports, dashboards, and visualizations.
