machine.

• Review program specifications or blueprints to determine and set machine operations and

sequencing, finished work piece dimensions, and/or numerical control sequences.

• Calculate machine speed and feed ratios and the size and position of cuts.

• Stop machines to remove finished material or to change tooling, setup, or material placement,

according to required machining sequences.

• Listen to machines during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or

excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problems.

• Monitor machine operation and control panel display and compare readings to specifications to

detect malfunctions.

• Check to ensure that material is properly lubricated and cooled during machine operation.

• Measure dimensions of the finished product to ensure conformance to specifications, using

precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.

• Clean machines, tooling, and parts, using solvents or solutions and rags.

• Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and material on the machine, using
