The VA Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities and operations of the Value-Added Production department within a food processing company. The role entails ensuring the production of high-quality value-added products that meet customer expectations, while adhering to local government regulations, company policies, and procedures. The VA Production Manager will provide strong leadership to achieve company, plant, and department goals, implementing effective management strategies to enhance overall quality and profitability. They will manage multiple projects and assignments, ensuring their successful completion and follow-up.

Responsibilities:

1. Production Management:

β€’ Plan and manage daily activities in the Value-Added Production department, which includes sausage (cooked and raw), ham, sandwich meats, Burger patty, salamis, pepperoni, hotdogs, all pizza toppings, and the forming line (breaded products).

β€’ Oversee the production of ready-to-eat products such as mutton, chicken, beef, and vegetable samosas, wraps, spring rolls, pizzas, parathas, gravies, and biryanis.

β€’ Develop and implement production schedules to meet targets and optimize productivity within the department.

β€’ Analyse raw material usage, control inventory, and develop new recipes based on consumer tastes and preferences.

β€’ Generate production reports to monitor product costing, stock control, and product movement analysis.

2. Quality Control and Process Improvement:

β€’ Evaluate and enhance the current production system/process, identifying and addressing any existing loopholes.

β€’ Implement quality control measures such as checklists and critical control points (CCPs) to ensure product quality and minimize market complaints.

β€’ Supervise product recipes and ingredient compositions to maintain consistent product quality, while identifying opportunities for cost control through recipe modifications.

β€’ Enhance skills in all production areas, including quality control procedures and hygiene practices, to improve product quality and overall productivity.

3. Maintenance and Safety:

β€’ Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule to improve plant efficiency, personnel safety, and production processes, minimizing downtime.

β€’ Foster positive relationships with employees and colleagues, creating a cooperative working environment that increases productivity.

β€’ Conduct shift planning, personnel management, and product line management to meet production targets and yield goals.

β€’ Collaborate with the sales team, current clients, and prospective clients to develop new products aligned with their needs and to improve overall product quality.

β€’ Monitor the market to identify areas for product improvement and future product development.

4. Supervisory Responsibilities:

β€’ Provide leadership and guidance to employees/teams within the production plant.

β€’ Conduct supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.

β€’ Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and assisting in providing resolutions.

Additional Responsibilities:

β€’ Perform any other duties related to production, product improvement, development, or as assigned by management..

Skills

Requirements:

β€’ Bachelor’s degree in Food Science,Agri Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

β€’ Previous experience in a similar role within the food processing industry, demonstrating progressively increasing levels of responsibility.

β€’ Knowledge of food processing techniques, equipment, and industry regulations.

β€’ Strong understanding of production processes and procedures in a food processing environment.

β€’ Knowledge of quality control standards and methodologies

β€’ Familiarity with health and safety regulations in food processing.

β€’ Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and standard operating procedures in food processing.

β€’ Experience in conducting internal audits and implementing corrective actions to ensure compliance.

β€’ Ability to oversee and manage the implementation of quality control measures

β€’ Proficiency in analysing production data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement effective strategies

β€’ Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, handling multiple projects simultaneously.

β€’ Willingness to work flexible hours or shifts as needed to meet production demands
