<p>The ideal candidate is a source and procure materials to satisfy stock replenishment and direct purchase for ship repair, NB projects, yard maintenance &amp; other requirements.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Determine and develop appropriate sources of supply and maintain cooperative working relationships with vendors to stay current with trends and technologies, products and services.</li><li>Source yard’s requirements of materials by obtaining quotes from suitable and the right suppliers using the supplier categories available in supplier master and other techniques available.</li><li>Preparation of Technical Bid Evaluation and obtaining approvals from the user department</li><li>Preparation of Commercial Bid Evaluation by selecting the technically lowest supplier considering all aspects and obtaining necessary budget approvals, negotiate with them and create computerized purchase orders following evaluation of quotations obtained.</li><li>Resolve problems and discrepancies, issue arising from purchase of services, supplies and equipment with internal and external clients.</li><li>Identify repetitive purchased items to the materials control section to enable creation of these items into stock.</li><li>Prepare insurance claims for materials damaged or lost in transit.</li><li>Liaise with user departments &amp; Materials Control Section to ensure correct specifications are quoted on orders.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Degree or Diploma in Engineering</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li><li>05 years’ experience in buying in an industrial environment, shipyard, offshore / Oil &amp; Gas industry.</li></ul>
