VSE Corporation is seeking for Field Engineer – Combat Systems that is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) of various U.S. Navy Combat Systems for Egypt In-Country Follow-on Technical Support (FOTS) effort.<p><br></p>Applicant must have a working knowledge of Navy Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Standard Items that are applicable to radio frequency (RF) signals and transmission. Must also have communication repair work on US Navy vessels. This is a technically diverse and service-oriented team position with a proven track record of providing customers with superior service and technical capabilities.<p><br></p>This is an unaccompanied billet, but the successful applicant can have family member/dependents with them at the successful applicant’s own expense.<p><br></p><strong><u>Duties & Responsibilities</u></strong><p><br></p>The successful applicant will be required to provide consulting oversight and On-the job (OJT) training to workforce of Egyptian Nationals during the execution of ship availabilities for various ship platforms as required and directed by in-country VSE management.<p><br></p><ul><li>Perform troubleshooting, repairing, and overhauling marine electronic systems using approved technical work packages and technical publications. Additional, tasking includes, but is not limited to, supporting removal and repairs to circuit cards, cables, programmable logic controller’s (PLC) and junction boxes (replacement and rebuild), and repairs to other engineering systems and subsystems typically found aboard U.S. Navy vessels and boats. </li><li>Perform intermediate and depot level repairs on all types of main electronic systems, subsystems, equipment, and auxiliary electronics and radio frequency (RF) systems typically found aboard former US. Navy vessels and boats in support of Egyptian Navy shipboard lifecycle maintenance requirements. </li><li>Provide maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair for various Combat Systems. </li><li>Electronic Warfare and Electronic systems onboard military vessels owned by the Egyptian Navy. </li><li>Subcontractor oversight and OJT training to workforce of Egyptian Nationals during the execution of ship availabilities and technical assistance requests for various ship platforms as required and directed by in-country Technical Assistance Team (TAT) Manager. </li><li>As the SME, you will be expected to work under limited supervision, have strong problem-solving skills, interpret schematics, use manufacturer’s manuals, and use your knowledge of electronic circuit theory to troubleshoot systems. </li><li>Conduct Material Condition Assessment (MCA), repair and maintain primarily electronic systems and navigation equipment feeding a common integrated suite. As the Egyptian Navy modernizes their fleet, the range of systems will expand accordingly. </li><li>Provide a detailed report on findings, required repair parts and recommendations. </li><li>Inspect and test electronic equipment, components, and assemblies using multi-meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, and other electronic test instruments, tools, and equipment. </li><li>Provide training to the shipboard crews on the operation and maintenance on the radars, consoles and associated ancillary equipment. </li><li>Dependable, reliable and willing to work a flexible schedule including extended hours. </li><li>Proficient in operation, testing, and demonstration from troubleshooting, maintaining, and wide variety of electrical and electronic equipment aboard ships. </li><li>Cable running and cabling connections. </li><li>Computer systems, Personnel Computers (PCs), Linux and Windows, and Versa Module Eurocard (VME) Chassis. </li><li>Electrical generation, conversion, and distribution electronics and automated controls, instrumentation, Network Data Systems, including RS-232, RS-422, Ethernet Bridge equipment: RADARS, Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS), Global Positioning System (GPS), FATHOMETER, SPEED LOG, Internal Communication (IC) Switchboards, and National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) Messages. </li><li>Aviation support systems and monitoring. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul><p><br></p><strong><u>Minium Requirements</u></strong><p><br></p>Must have knowledge of intermediate and depot level repair procedures, repair and maintenance standards, quality assurance specifications, and proper use of Industrial Machinery Automation (IMA) industrial machinery. Other minimum requirements include:<p><br></p><ul><li>High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) Certificate. </li><li>Minimum of 15 years of experience supporting the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of U.S. Navy/ Coast Guard Electronics Systems. </li><li>SME level of knowledge of various U.S. Navy Combat Systems to include applicable Electronic Systems </li><li>Must have knowledge of NAVSEA Standard items as applicable to intermediate and depot level repair procedures, repair and maintenance standards, quality assurance specifications, and proper use of IMA industrial machinery. </li><li>Must be able to work both independently and with a team. </li><li>Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Must be proficient with basic computer operation with ability to create and maintain various reports and spreadsheets as required. </li><li>Must be able to interpret vessels blueprints and ship drawings along with research of ships systems manuals to identify problems as they arise. </li><li>Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance. </li><li>Must be able to obtain a Country Clearance and Base Pass authorization. </li><li>Applicant must have a current passport with at least 2 years prior to expiration after arrival in Egypt. </li><li>Successful applicant will be forward deployed in Alexandria, Egypt and work as part of the In-Country Technical Assistance Team (ICTAT). </li><li>The selected applicant will be subject to a background check and drug testing. </li><li>As an In-Country Team member the successful applicant is expected to maintain a good working relationship with Egyptian Navy counterparts in a dynamic work environment. </li></ul><p><br></p><strong><u>Preferred Requirements</u></strong><p><br></p><ul><li>Prior shipyard maintenance experience or a working knowledge of expectations and safety protocols related to a shipyard environment. </li><li>Experience working in an Arab country for long periods of time. </li></ul><p><br></p><strong><u>Other</u></strong><p><br></p><ul><li>The selected applicant will be subject to a background check and drug testing. </li></ul><p><br></p>Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
